Spare wheel for 182

  Black 133 Cup
Just a quick question:

Those that have spare wheels for their 182s - how useful have you found them? Are they worth having etc?

And, presuming if you have one it is kept in the boot, how do you store it/ strap it down/protect it?

I'm debating whether to get one as this is the second car I've owned with tyre weld (1st was Lupo GTi) and I'm not convinced my mileage/luck ratio can go on much longer and really dislike the reliability/stories I've heard with tyre weld.

Cheers in advance,

Al

Tyre weld is a temporary repair only

Its not designed to be reliable its designed to get you home and no more.

Yes, I realise this. I just prefere the peace of mind of a spare, which should only be a temporary measure also as the tyre wear would be different compared to normal running tyres (unless everything is new or recently replaced).

I have one , just sits in the boot usually on top of a load of junk , lol . I've never had to change a wheel ever in my life ( touch wood ) ;) I got mine for peace of mind though as well .

Which wheel have you got?

Would be interested to know what types everyone has. I know it has to be 15" to go over the front callipers.

cheep steel megane or clio wheel would do it i reckon. could even possably get away with a smaller one if u used it on the rear.

Ive got a space saver and a cup wheel and tyre for sale.
£35 + postage for the space saver
£80 + postage for the cup wheel and brand new tyre (little bit of damage on the wheel)

I have a spare 182 Wheel after I had an argument with a curb. I have put a fairly new tyre on it, had it balanced and its a good spare.
I keep it in the garage wrapped in a couple of black bin bags. They fill the boot if you put them in there so just carry a couple of cans of tyre weld.

Agreed, although I would still prefere peace of mind of the spare. Don't really use the boot much and even with a wheel it has more space than the last two boots I've owned (Lupo and Z3) :)

What tyre is on the spare MC?
