Speeding ticket, what are my options

  Valver

Looks like Ive been caught by one of the evil talivan things, on a dual carriageway which has been lowered to 40, I was doing 67 apparently...

Problem is, apart from the obvious, Im only 18 and have been driving since May. That would mean if I did get 6 points, which is a possibility, I would have to retake my tests etc etc

Any tips or advice as to how I should handle it? I havent filled the form in yet saying I was driving, Ive got till near the end of this month to send it off

well normally 30+ over the limit is 6 points+.

I think if your lucky youll only get 5 points for that.

that happened to me, i lost *cough* the form, then a copper came round a took a statement from me, denied recieving the form and said i cant remember who was driving the car that day, as myself and my dad are both insured on the car, asked my dad and he told them the same story.

both myself and my dad got asked to come to court in january 2005 and they dropped the charges in november due to lack of evidence, i was so chuffed, i got 3 points and have only been driving a year and a half, need to wait till july till i got some breathing room!

Ive registeredon that site thx cocopops

Ive talk to 2 specialist solicitors, one said I was just outside the limit for 6 points the other said I was definately in it...

Whats the deal about sending it off unsigned and stuff like that?

Lol yeah Im thinking that might be easier, just turn up in court anyway plead guilty and hope they dont give me 6 points...

However im not loaded and having to redo my test is going to cause a lot of difficulties for me due to studies etc

If youre really worried about getting 6 points it might be worth making out that you dont know who was driving. Thats only if two people are insured.

My aunt had a similar situation and said shed be willing to pay the fine but could she have a photo so she can see who was driving. They sent her a picture of just the number plate of her car.

They summoned her to court and then dropped it before it even got there!! She never paid and never got the point either.

be a man and take the flack

agreed

you done the crime, accept the punishment, you were caught

easy way to avoid getting caught, is not to speed in the 1st place

and yes, i have 3 points on my licence, so im not being pedantic about it

Dont forget the massive hike in your insurance premiums if you get disqualified m8.

Hopefully someone can give you some good advice.
