repaired loads of things like that.
araldite should be ok, myself i use either sikaflex or some stuff called innotec.
just scuff up the back and glue to the back a credit card or something similar that holds it together. if you wanna repair the front then it wont have the carbon look so its upto you if you do that

Well, got it off last night and the impact has ripped quite a few holes around where the fixing screws were, so its not quite a simple as first thought.
I'm gonna have to try and re-fabricate these areas so i can attach the splitter again.
Think i may do what you suggested (Nigel) as you'll be able to see the join if i try and keep the carbon look.

A credit card? Lol, not all of us are minted enough to use credit cards to peice things back together =p
personally, I'd use a plastic welder on the back, with a peice of fine wire mesh for added support. You'll probably still see the crack on the front mind.

i said credit card as not many have filler spreaders lying around.
besides, a credit card would do exactly the same job.

How could you use a plastic welder on carbon fibre? I think resin and mat work a little better.
Glad I'm not the only one who did that recently. Can't find a new splitter for my 07 model though :S
Took Fm's advice on this and used two old cards (AA membership and snooker club cards) with araldite.
First of all i cleaned all surfaces to be glued and used sand paper to get a good joining surface. Joined the two parts of the splitter with three bits of card (cut up and rolled to mimick the curve of the inside of the splitter) , on the top, side and bottom on the inside. Gluing one side, waiting to dry/harden and then doing the other piece. Big chunks were missing where the drill holes had been ripped away, these areas were filled with specially cut pieces of card and araldited into place, supported inside with oversized card cut outs.
Waited for everything to dry and then back to blacked the join and all the scuffs on the bottom. You can hardly see the join and all the repair work is invisible once the splitter is in position.
I'll probably go over the join with a light sand paper and then re back to black it, but happy with the result thus far.
£111 saved.
Reckon the carbon splitters are actually easier to repair than plastic ones. The carbon weave really takes the araldite well, allowing for a better bond.

I would like to repair one of these, have loads of cards i want to chop up..
The question is though, how would you hide a crack from the front, as i have a splitter which is in more than one piece. think its about 4.

glue from the back then grind down the crack a bit and use some fibreglass, then smooth with filler

My crack is barely visible !!
With a bit of sanding down and some back to black the join is quite faint, especially when its on the car and being driven.
I guess the fibreglass route would be the best for a splitter broken in more than two parts, but for me it was a case of spending a fiver on araldite or 10/15 on a fibreglass repair kit.
Essentially the join doesnt have to be perfect as the splitter is held on the car by screws, so just needss to be good enough, you may get away with a 4 point repair, just make sure you glue it in stages.
Worth the outlay though if you reckon you'll break it again.
How many times can these things break and be repaired.
