Sportex

I just had to replace my whole exhaust upto and including cat on my 1.6 rxe, and as money is tight at the moment i decided to try out a sportex 3" backbox, and to be fair it doesnt actually sound as bad as i thought it might, Not too intrusive noise wise, but makes it sound a bit more like a real car then standard. The main downside is its mild steel instead of SS, But for the money thats to be expected. I think sportex get a bad name as a whole but i think for price they really arent bad at all, whats your views?

its fine for a cheap fix but being mild steel it will be rusted out in another 12/18 months hence why most opt to spend the extra for ss.
imo you generally get what you pay for when it comes to exhausts....

but if your happy with it then thats what matters!!

Yeah i would have liked to gone for the extra ss but not working at the moment its on a budget and to be honest, i dont even know how long ill own my little clio yet so ill play it by ear and if work picks up then all will be good

I had a Sportex backbox on my old Mk1 1.2 Clio several years ago. Poor fit, far to noisy, just generally horrible. Must have improved recently...

Yeah its okay except the fitting wasnt quite as 'direct replacement' as they made out
