Stand along ECU's for diesels.

Does anyone know any company who do them? I know there an SMT type device which can foll the ECU but don't know of one which can run an engine without any other bits.

Thats what I'm thinking is my only option Dave.
I need to get the stock ECU to run a competly different engine without resorting to using the ecu of the other car which would again lead to a whole rewiring of the car as the systems don't match up.

are the two engines of the same injection type? eg fuel stratified etc

if not you will have problems. diesel engine control is far more complex than petrol.

There a few options i was thinking of one is to use a PD system which is different using the single DP injector the other is to use another Renault dci engine but it uses different amount of teeth so tdc sensor outputs would be different unless I could have new bits made up.

I wish Renault would just go make a Renault sport diesel there making my choices difficult. (Go on Jeremy push the idea please).

Most ECU's can be mapped to run exactly how you want and what you want. Providing the engine is prettymuch similar in the way of connections i shouldn't imagine there would be a problem. If you want PM me the details of both Engines and ECU's and just a quick note to say what you want and i will see what i can do.

With a diesel alls you need is a remap or plug in module, can be set up on the RR. Gains are more than enough.

No need for a stand alone.

I'm thinkng of a new engine. J3neds showing us the way use VAG power.

pmurray - I'm send you an email when I get the details of the other engine. How much info do you need though I know the VAG uses a completly different method of calculating boost (MAF) whereas the Clio uses boost temperature.

If you just get the engine and ECU details i thinkthis should be enough.I will speak with a couple of guys in Germany who are Diesel experts and i'm sure they will be able to help.

the VAG lump is "pumph deuse"...higher injection pressure, different mapping stratrgies....i doubt the renault ecu will support the software...
