Standard 172 exhaust.

Hi,
Bit of advice please.

Standard 172 exhaust seems to be puff puff from the back box, what could be causing that?. Instead of a steady noise eminating from it.

Also rubber mounting has perished on the bit that attachs back box to cars mounting but exhaust doesn't move, just a bit concerned as travelling 270 miles tomorrow and don't fancy braking down in the middle of nowhere.

let me get this stright.. you have got two puffs hanging out of your back box? and there rubber has perished?

the puff puff being smoke or noise? if its noise it could be it has a hole if its smoke is it blue? if so thats oil, if its white/grey thats condensation.

im assuming noise....so dont worry...noise wont cause a break down...its probably just resonating on a crack or whole and wont be a problem...its if you go over big bumps etc...just becareful. The perished rubber again i would worry... just do the trip and then when u get back goto quick fit for a check up

Puff Puff being the sound the exhust makes instead of being steady (Hard to explain). No blue smoke etc everything normal there.

The brackets are a bit crap to be honest, on my 3rd now.

As for the stock exhaust, don't know much about them bar mine falling off within the first day of owning the car.

Might get Kwik fit to check it out in the morning just to be sure its ok.

my bet is that its cracked on the join to the back box....suppsoedly quite common, and with the bad hanger...it wont help. Either way good luck with it.
