Standard aduio setup in a 172 mk2?

  The Bus and MRT
I've had my new speakers and HU fitted for a month now but it's not sounding right and I think it's because the standard front tweeters are still connected.

Can someone please explain to me how they are connected to the HU. The rear speakers had the tweeters build in, similar to my new Infinity components but with only one set of cables and no cross over.

Does the standard setup not use crossovers and simply has the same frequencies going into the tweeters and main speaker?

And most importantly how do I get to the bottom of the tweeters to unplug them? Will I have to remove the whole dash?

Cheers

No.

When i bought my Clio, the front right tweeter wasn't working.

I explain in the following post what i did to get at it - You DON'T need to take the dash off to get to the tweeter connectors.

Ignore the picture on that thread, i changed the target image for something else. :)

the tweeter itself is connected in parallel to the door speaker.

it has a hpf attatched to the body of the tweeter

I have just had the dash top off my Sons 172 to remove the crap Cobra alarm and fit a Clifford (more details when I have finished)

During the process I had a look at the tweeters and can confirm the "crossover" if you can call it that, is on the back of the tweeter. Its just a capacitor to filter out the lower frequencies.
I also think that it would be possible to fit tweeters from component sets with a bit of care. The oem one is 50mm across.

You need to remove the dash top, but thats easy.
