*STANDARD AIRBOXES* Where is best place for running a CAF ?

After reading this thread posted by Austy about the theory etc behind CAF's and airboxes.

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=516277

Where is everyone taking there CAF/Airbox feed pipe to the standard airbox from ?

Reason i ask is some people have taking a length of airfeed pipe right down to the bottom of the inner wheel arch with the acoustic valve removed and this aint reccommended :(

So am i guessing the length of airfeed pipe stopping half way down or just a few inches down from the top of the inner wheel arch would be enough ?

The reason i ask is my airfeed pipe comes out my standard airbox and goes right to the bottom of the inner wheel arch ( 3-4 inches of ground) and thats supposidly bad :(

personally myself i don't see anything wrong with the standard CAF set up, renault must have done it like that for a reason, as i say dont fix something that isnt broken.

Noise and polution emmissions are a huge part of the european standards, take off one of the standard CAF and the noise increase is quite dramatic. Any increase in extra combustion air increases outputs.

Am not an exert on any of this but surley renault must of tried many of different ways to do it and settled on how it is as its the best, i understand the noise and pollution Regs. Also noise does not mean increases it just makes you feel as though you have gained something.

Im not running any on my standard ph1 airbox as the two CAF pipes leading to it were both split so i simply removed them.

Havent noticed the slightest difference tbh but it is perhaps a little louder

So i'm guessing a airfeed half way down the wheel arch which not plugged into the airbox will suffice ?

the only thing i would like to now is about the acoustic valve, i have mine still on as i am a firm believer as you can tell that it must be there for a reason other wise renault wouldnt have done it.lol. but in removing this does it actually get a any gains or again is it just noise? if its just noise its staying on.

for me the acoustic valve made no difference in power at all, just gave it a different note which I really like, so I am glad I removed mine :) saved money on an induction kit too cause all I was after was a deeper note ;)

as the name suggest, it's to control the air flow into the airbox to reduce noise. No other reason and will help reduce air flow towards the airbox so in theory it's extra weight that you can do without

won't make any difference if it's removed or not.

Leave it on then am not to fussed about saving a few lbs because its all ruined when a passenger gets in. plus a few lbs wont make a difference.
