Started on my sisters car. .

  Porsche Boxster987S
... with the kestral and a new polish today for more obvious swirls. Her car is a mess with scratches and swirls so decided to just do a 50/50 on the bonnet considering the temp outside was dropping and the light was disappearing:( Anyhoo

All in all for a small test i found the chemical guys stuff pretty good. Took a while to break it down and a number of passes but not too bad an outcome. Not perfect yet though. I will go over it again tomorrow with a softer pad and some ultra buff.

Comments or advice welcome:)

hard to see but im sure in daylight the results will be clear ;)

how often do you have to reload the polish on the pad, i found on a few bonnets i did i wasnt sure whether the polish was 'loaded' on the bonnet or whether it was too dry!

Amazing Results the GF has a Black Clio so I can see once I buy a Machine Polisher I will be spending many hours on her car

looking good.. black cars come up really well.. though have a look at these 50/50 shots when my car was done professionally last month! As you can see it was in an awful state!!

Nice result, although I think you're struggling to break down the polish because the area you're working in is too big. Try to work in a 12" x 18" area, so split the bonnet up in to 6 sections :)

What sort of process are you using i.e. speeds, passes etc?

Nice work as always paul. Love the 50/50 on black cars. Polishing my RB is hard work to see the improvements i've found.

yea i think i made life a bit harder for myself. I done my own car in 6 sections but went for slightly bigger on this due to the conditions outside changing.

Speeds - start off at around 2-3 to spread the polish evenly. Usually just leave the machine off and run the pad over the paint before i do anything though then start it up. Gradually work my way up through the speeds , watching how the polish is reacting.

Passes - Generally straight lines , although ive been trying figure 8s and overlapping horizontals (if that makes sense). Depends on the area im working on tbh.

As said , advice welcome. Done a few cars now but always room to improve.

Cheers for the feedback guys

Reading that answers pretty much most questions anyone could have, great advice. Also worth checking out a few vids on youtube. How are you picking it up Paul, getting a good feel for it? I need a kestrel/PC in my life :(!

Looks fantastic!

Always amazes me, that even where a car looks really clean, there is always a massive amount to improve on!!

yea she was a bit shocked after i showed her the state of the clay. Was in a right state and thats only from one half of the bonnet:eek:

So after what you did, it will get rid of those above marks? My car has them all over, hate it :dapprove:

How much would you pay to get it done professionally? Nothing too expensive, cheapskate here.

TBH, once you've done a few, you'll know roughly which to start on. I rarely use anything other than a cutting pad...Other wise you waste your time!

yea , my usual combo didnt really look at the swirls on it so was a bit stumped by it.. My main aim is to get the best correction possible with the least amount of paint being removed.

Not tried wet sanding yet though:quiet: gulp

Nah man a'll sort it. On v6 stand no CS

Paul - PC doesn't really remove paint. Maybe 5microns max....
