Starter Button Help

Ive recently bought a starter button from ultimatecarmods... http://www.ultimatecarparts.co.uk/k...t-for-any-car-with-central-locking-p-367.html

Ive wired it up to my 2001 clio:
Button wires: Ignition Wires
Red 12v : red 12v Feed
White (acc) : acc (green and yellow)
Brown (IG1) : (On1) Yellow
Yellow (start) : start (Orange)
but I have no idea where the black wire goes... it says it should go to "on2" yet i have no more wires to attach it to?
I would leave it at that but the button only starts the car... whereas the instructions say that if you hold down the button for 0.5 seconds with the brake pedal it should turn off the car which dose not happen at the minute.

any ideas????

Did you wire everything up? Also the other 5 wires? Maybe it needs a signal from the brake pedal sensor?

Well tbh that's what I thought too but this one looks pretty good actually. It doesn't need your key and works with the central locking.
You would of course need to remove the steering lock if you really don't want to use the key..

Not like the ones where someone could just smash a window and start the car or you have to put the key in the ignition but then use the button to engage the starter motor. Think it is one more thing to go wrong personally....

tbh if it look like one that can be completely started without a key or card of some sort it is retarded!!

thats a huge 'pinch me' to a car thief... is there anyway of wiring a card reader into it? (that you could program to only read your bank card or credit card etc, if not you may as well have got alot cheaper button and done the wiring yourself)

I guess it's the same thing as forking out hundreds for new wheels where the original ones work just fine to begin with..

And I think it's a RFID one. Or it goes with the alarm/central locking. If you don't disarm it then its not gonna start.

But new wheels always look better ;)

this button sounds like a really stupid idea. If you leave you car unlocked, someone can just drive off with it!

Do you still have to put the key in for the button to work ?
At the moment you need the key to unlock the steering column and to disengage the immobiliser... but in theory you could take out the steering lock and tape the immobiliser chip to the immobiliser and it would work without the key... and just use a button to open and close the central locking.

Ive wired up the brake pedal switch, that all works fine as i can start the car by pressing on the brake pedal and pushing the button. I just cant use the button to turn off the car so i have to use the key to turn off the car.... which dosent always work.... hence my problem!! I need to figure out where the black wire goes and that will hopefully allow me to turn off the car with the button.

So if the button only starts the car, how do you turn it off? Turn the key twice and then back off?
yes turn the key, but it dosent always work....

Yeah i wouldnt suggest buying a button, there not very safe. But my steering lock jammed while I was at work and the RAC man decided the best way to solve the problem was with a hammer to smash the casing around the barrel up so that the steering lock was no longer in use.... now the spring on the start position dosent work so i have to turn the key back from start back to on otherwise the starter motor stays engaged. buying a start button seemed much cheaper than a new key and immobiliser....

im sure you could get one on here from someone cheaper than the starter button and effort required in the long run. good luck with it though.

"Ill post in the wanted section" scrap that... I have to have a paid membership. Ive been to all my local scrap yards and they all say the same thing, its a common part that always gets taken from the car. It would be much much easier!
i just need to figure out where the black wire goes to.....

Black is earth normally... Have you tried that?

would help if you posted up a diagram, someone could help then.

alternatively buy a new focus st and you get a button that starts and stops the car without turning a key! B-)

Ill try earthing it out and see what happens... here is the diagram for you, but its not a great photo as it goes out of focus pretty quickly.

Id rather not buy a ford ;)

If it isn't the earth try it on the same wire as 'on 1'

Maybe it needs to cut the signal there to cut the car out (not sure tbh because I can't see the diagram on my phone either but worth a shot mate)

Hope this helps at least
