STD 172 PH1 airbox

  172 5HED
Obv with the track shed being a ph1 it has this, been reading that this is quite efficient?!

I am using the passenger light as an airfeed so was going to just link it direct to that?

Any opinions or reccomendations?

Don't fully connect the headlight head straight into the airfilter as this seems to restrict them a little. just have the filter intake in this area. If you move you battery, you can have a straight coupler from the TB onto the filter housing that works while (as the original cup cars)

If the battery is going, have no elbow, and run the airbox straight off the tb!

Look up Jamesstone's iirc.

EDIT:

No real "need" for the feed either.....

This works well..that well that Paul at rs tuning said how much it made mine go weak when he mapped it last week.
You can fit it all in the engine bay as well.

Sorry my bad. when he took off the superchip map and put a standard one on when he did te first run the mixture went very weak due to the amount of air taken in probably down to the shorter inlet tract

Sorry I was referring to the filter mate! Otherwise your right the housing is just a Renault unit - people have been playing with them for ages as you well know - but we couldn't fault it over all the other products we tried so instead of flogging a carbon fiber piece of tat that achieves nothing we choose to sell the parts that work together, the 90 degree bend & the filter have however been made to our spec :)

You mean lean matey?

Yeah ditching the 90 degree bend is a good idea and will flow far better than the stock system rather than the ph1 / V6 being ''good'' so much.

The only problem with bolting the IK housing on the end of the TB is the potential heat from the mani ?

to be honest mate the air will be travelling so quick im sure the extra bit of heat wont make much difference :)

I've got some up-dated pictures to post up of my induction set-up, I've since added heat foil to the cold air pocket to completely seal it off from the engine may & i've also put together an ECU bracket as the first version was a tad ghetto, but it was test mule ;)

First road tests "seem" to have improved mid-range torque & response the most but i've also re-worked the TB so gains could lay there too! Just waiting to get it on the rollers to see if its worth the time. I'm currently working on a customers car that i've used the same set-up as mine but still has the batterey in the engine bay ;)

Road tests have shown good results, Outside temp was reading 11c & the AITS was recording 19c.

LOL, The standard "plastic" engine covers bolt directly to the manifold.. Even if that was the case, there is still a silicon joiner in place. I've now done over 600 miles on the kit with no issue's too report, Only thing i will say is Vibra-tech mounts are needed ideally as space is tight between the airbox & header tank
