I have retrimmed 3 sets of doorcards in leather, and 2 leather armrests before so I know the basics but am definately not ready to be re-trimming a steering wheel in leather/alcantara!
So my plan is to do a nice DIY refurb, i'm looking into the options tonight on the net, my plan is to use a leather prep or stripper to remove the old coating and then spray on a new dark grey coat of leather dye with a spray gun with a sealer to finish.
In order to do this I need to confirm - is the 'melty' crap like a paint on top of a leather base ? Or is it like all a vinyl material wrapped around the wheel?
