Steering Wheel Help Needed!

  Renault Clio
Hi just joined the forum and looking for some steering wheel help.

I've bought a very standard 2004 Clio Dynamic for my student daughter and the only thing she's asked me to see if I can change is the steering wheel,
not only worn but it has a really horrible finish and feel to it. Is there any advice I can get from you to upgrade it to some sort of sports wheel perhaps,
leather preferably but as it's my dear daughter it does have to be with an airbag?

Can I retro-fit a later model's wheel perhaps, or any recommendations for aftermarket wheels that would fit, plenty out there but no airbags of course!
I'm in Surrey so also wondered if there are any ClioSport accessory people around who might be able to help?

Appreciate any help and thanks so much.
cheers Mike

Buy a Ph2 172 Steering wheel.
thanks for that, appreciate the advice. Excuse my ignorance though but what does the Ph2 part mean?
Also does this wheel have the radio or cruise buttons on it as on our car it's on a console behind the wheel
by your right fingers, can this be re-wired for a later steering wheel?

Any other suggestions gratefully received!

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
If its got cruise control you want a 182 wheel

as for the radio the controls on the arms arent changed

ph2 = phase/ mk2 car.

so 182 is 53-06 plate.

Ph2 means Phase 2, when talking about Clio Mk2. Usually you can tell which "phase" your car is by the shape of the headlights. Rounded for Phase 1 and triangular for phase 2.

mk3 is not easy to fit.

Lower specification clio ph2 wheels do not have the problem with melting so they would be best. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-c...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d237048c3

You will pay silly money for a sport steering wheel in decent condition and it will only melt in the end anyway!

I'm in greenwich sometimes if that's any good to you. Can fit it in 5 minutes. t50 and a flat head strew drive it all you need :)

thanks guys, really appreciate your comments. Seems I have a phase one car so it would be a non cruise control 172 wheel I need.
Will search the net and see what I can come up with, then perhaps have it recovered.

Will PM you GrahamS thanks.

Had my 182 wheel re-trimmed by Snappy recently. Massively impressed with the finish. Best part of the interior now!

The Ph.1 172 wheels are MUCH better than the 182 version. As GrahamS says - they have a tendency to 'melt' and look genuinely awful. Even if they don't, the thumb-grip rubbers perish and crumble.

A definite step-back from Renault there!
