Still clicking/clunking......HELP/ADVISE

I put a post up asking about this in another thread - someone said get some strut top washers from yozza....which I got just to try them and see if it makes it stop - many thanks to yozza for supplying them. But sadly on removal of the strut tops I found that it had already been filed out?! anyway put them on (hope I put them on correctly) and they didn't work, stil clicks on full lock.

I have checked the engine mounts and all are well.

Any ideas please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dapprove:

its weird mate because mine did this,i replaced the top mounts, it stopped for a week and its come back so only way i would say is to buy solid top mounts

Mine does it as well.. I bought the washers and it has helped a bit, but still does it now and again...

has anybody got any pics of how you fit the washer incase I haven't got them on right.

when you remove the strut top there in a small (thin) nut, then under that what looks like a washer/bush - I put the washer on top of this bush beacuse the center hole in the washer fits over the thin nut. Then fitted the strut top on. But it sits alot higher. Is this normal and won't it start banging when you go over bumps?

A garage is going to have a look at my car on fri - as when i was fitting the washers, mate said it sounded like the clicking noise was coming from lower down??!!

Its all head banging!! as it stopped for a short while when i fitted eibach's then started up again, and when i fitted my FK's it stopped and then came back. My strut tops look like they have been filed out at some point.

Things that i thought could have gone but haven't -
- Ball joint - doesnt click/clunk when moving
- Track rod end - garage had a look when tire fitting and said there is slight paly but nothing serious.
- engine mounts - all seem fine! engine doesn't bang under hard acceleration.

Well i'm a little closer to finding something out, turned ignition on and turned the wheels to full lock it clicked but now have found out that its coming from somewere in the center under the car........steering rack?? also on my drive home i had my foot against the steering column and felt a slight grinding noise when turning left.

weird mate,i dont think it will be either track rods or ends as the ones on mine are brand new and mine still does it

rack feel loose at all?
Any play in it?

That was my nxt port of call, check the steering rack hasn't come loose, because I removed the whole subframe and other parts to get my 182 manifols on a while back - but it didn't click back then.

Its really weird, when you turn and hit the clicking point, if you turn it back to where its just clicked it won't do it again. but if you turn it fully on to full lock the other direction it will click again.
