Stop Light and Oil Light Up

  Titanium Clio 182
When I accelerate fast it comes on. Also from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough it was on. Sometimes when I slow down, it goes away but then comers back up when I accelerate. Also my last drive, it didn't come up once!!

Oil level is fine. Engine sounds different at 60mph its roary (loud).

Car has 103,000 Miles on it, its a 182

Thanks in advance.

Check the brake fluid level for the stop light.

Pads probably worn, So level is low causing the light to come on. Either top it up or get some new pads in.

The above isn't my car but the stop light, top left and the bottom middle light are the ones that come on and off. My car has been parked up for 2 months in a Naval dockyard. Maybe that has something do do with it. My brakes are fine, they are new, but not checked the level of fluid.

I was driving today and when I went about 60mph the engine was roaring and the light came on again, I went faster and it cleared and the roaring sound went. But sometimes it does come on at 60, its intermittent. Ever since I've had the car its roared at about 90 but not at 60. Its not a mega roar, its just the engine seems louder.

lol@ mega roar.

The stop light when going round corners is usually the brake fluid level, Check that.

If the oil is ok by checking via dispstick, You could have a faulty sensor somewhere, Has toxic fume sensor (or called a simular name) ever flashed with the roaring? On the pic youve posted its far right bottom.

Nah the emissions light hasn't came up. I though the STOP and the oil light came on together?

I had this occuring only during the winter... after coldstart and driving off.
All levels where fine, guess it must have been a sensor fault.

At 60mph when the noise starts I put my clutch down so the revs dropped off and it was still their at those speeds. Could this be a problem with one of the wheels? Maybe a bearing? Its done 104,000 miles. How can I check, simply spinning each wheel individually and seeing if one is stiff?

im having the same problem brake fluid levels ok

the oil says ok when you switch the engine on so i dont thin its engine oil

but if its the breks wouldnt the abs light come on with the stop light rather than the oil and stop light together?

Stop driving it IMMEDIATELY. Get it looked at. It will either be a dodgy sensor or an actual lack of oil pressure. Not a gamble I'd be taking. Just because the oil level is ok, does not mean the pressure is ok. If it's a genuine pressure fault then you could be doing the engine untold damage.

Pressure is not the same as level. Trust me, if you've got a pressure warning light coming on then it needs looking at. Sitting on it and hoping it will fix itself is not a good plan.

It'll be the oil pressure sensor (green plug you can see just to the left of the filter).

To check if it is the sensor, dip the oil using the dipstick. Then, after switching engine on, the car should show up 'oil ok'. If you hit the reset odometer button when oil ok shows, it will show you the oil level. If this is ok, I'd be looking at replacing the oil pressure sensor!
