Sub making engine noise.

Decided as its getting a bit warmer id switch the car back to comfort mode and bob all the seats and whatnot back in the back. Put my sub and amp back in as well, but now they are making a wierd noise.

With the engine off its fine, but start the car and the sub starts to make a pitched drone in tune with the engine. Its like it is interfering somewhere but i cant find where. The only cable to do with the sub anywhere near the engine is the power lead on the battery but that is all correct and there are no exposed bits anywhere.

Ive wiggled wires and tried moving things about but to no avail

Any ideas?

are the rca cables run the same side as your power cable. if so this could cause the problem, as well as bad earth. as a rule rca's and power feed go on opposite sides.

had a look at the earth and there are no breaks and its done striaght to the metal but ill have a play with it.

RCA cables are same side as power cables but its been in for years like that as far as i know and its always been fine before now.

Getting annoyed now. Ive had the amp open and theres nothing dodgy or loose inside. Ive put new ends on both sides of the amp cable, ive sanded down both the amp cable end and the small patch of metal it is earthed to.

Still doing the fecking buzzing.

Going to have the sub itself open to see if theres anything astray in there.

What i dont understand is why it doesnt do it when the engine is off (i.e only position 1 so the sub & amp works but the engine is cut).

I had the same problem. try a different head Unit. make sure the Ground is a good fit. also check there is no other power cables(for rear lights etc) are running next to RCA.

move the cables mate so the power lead runs down one side and the RCA cables down the other

yeh you dont have to fit them in the other side of the car, just move them away and test it... then again amp or subs had it! oooooooo i no, check your remote leads not toutching the metal on ur cd player have a wiggle there, let me now how you get on

Cheers for all the suggestions guys. Had the sub box open and a good look around that although to be expected everything looked pretty much in order.

Ive moved the wires about all over the show but that doesnt seem to have any effect and like i say they worked fine before when they were in the same place.

thinking back to when i took the sub and amp out well before christmas, it stated making the noise when i went round a corner a bit hard, so i suppose it is possible either something behind the head unit has gone sour and is touching something it shouldnt, or indeed that the sub has crashed into the amp and given it an electronic tumour.

Ill have another stab tommorrow at it all, including checking behind the head unit.
