from a renault mechanic putting castrol edge 5w-30 in my car last year then me putting millers XSF 5w-40 in it today. 6 liters for 34 quid. Combined with Lucas gearbox treatment "leak stop" for 12 quid last week, topped up with some box oil, its running like an absolute dream, and will hopefully continue to do so! took it for a wee bed in drive there and my word it went very very well!

so in other words stick to what the book says!

well it doesnt go a million mph or anything but its just smoother as it does with any service, but im just impressed because its the first time ive driven it after any sort of servicing

I've always used Millers in any car I have had. They have a great rep and there just down the road from me.

The F4R should never be used in the Uk climate with 30 weight oil. its way to thin at temp the UK and most owners ever see.

You can depends how bad the oil stuff is.

i used to change my oil every 3k with fully synthetic millers in my 1.2 16v really recomend it, and if i could still afford to do it i would!

lol so you changed the oil in a 1.2 every 3000 miles? Would have been more beneficial to save that for your 172!

not really the 1.2 took more of a hammering than the 172 does. do it every 8 or 9k in the 172
