Supercharging Willified Valver

Just toying with a couple of ideas at the moment and was after some comments and opinions on Charging.

Has anyone charged there Hybrid/Williams or Valver? If so what sort of BHP/Torque increases can be expected?

How much am i looking at for the Kit?

How much to fit the kit and set up on RR?

Is there enough space in the engine bay to fit?

How reliable are these kits?

Thats about it for now, will no doubt have some more questions later.

Thanks

All i know is that you best have deep pockets for the fuel bill ;-) Would be cool tho!

dont know if theres a kit commonly available, there prolly will be just ive never heard of one.

to be honest I would like to see it done, but I wouldnt recommend anything like that, it would totally change the characteristics of the car (although not as bad as a turbo im sure...). id stick to N/A tuning and take it to Ben and Andy for some TB action... its worth it for the sound alone Smokey... it really is something else

i dont really know a lot about charging, what exactly would be needed to get one to fit and work?

we talking stand alone engine management too? Craigs car would be able to fit a huge charger in it :devilish:

Smokey, charging is expensive IF you go for new chargers or fancy chargers.

Rotrex and any other type of centrifugal charger will require an intercooler setup, adiabatic efficiency isnt great. And cost a bomb.

Id plump for a positive displacement charger, a sprintex screw or a Lysholm.

However, you can get the OE cooper S 5th gen chargers for very little now, £400. Giving you more than enough for 200+, earlier ones are limited to slightly less but cheaper. Would require fabbing up a manifold, no intercooler needed. Management wise id have to reel off a few options to you.

certainly.

The major problem is the belt drive assembly as there is a total lack of space on both cars, but nothing that cant be sorted.

easy! cost about £5000 at least tho. remove the power steering! get a rotrex c30 74. (sps are old spec now... but i do know of an sp30 74 for sale tho for about £600) same as on mine!

put the charger unit where ya powersteering pump was. ud need low pistons inserted.extra injector or 2. mf2 unit to drive them. custom intercooler and rad made up. some samco and some chrone straight bits. and an adaptor to fit ya intake...

5 grand!!!!

if you went ofr a budget build then nowhere near that much.

Like i said, wouldnt do a rotrex.

Wouldnt have an intercooler.

Wouldnt have extra injectors

wouldnt dump PAS!!!!!!

No need for low comp pistons.

y budget build it? u want BIG power!
i know they didnt have the best name but the new rotrexs are used on the kossenigggnenngoiiiggg thingy arnt they? so cant be bad?

doubt he wants to spend 5K!

And if you want BIG power its going to cost more than that.

And top fuelers dont run centrifugals...;)

intercoolers and all that, whats the point.....if you dont heatup the charge than you dont need to cool it again.

I was bidding on a Rotrex SP30 74 on ebay which went for £625 as i missed the end of the auction grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............................

Anyway, I will catch up with you soon ben to discuss the Mini charger option.

I will be happy with 200 ponies:D

Oh and i dont wanna lose my PAS as im a girly

how can u not heat up pressurised air?
by not compressing it in the charger.

They are called positive displacement chargers.

BenR if its not too much trouble is there any chance you could pm me a list of parts id be looking for to supercharge a mk2 172. cheers

ben.......try google.

But in laymans, a positive displacement draws in air and moves it to another place, it supercharges because it moves more than the engine can consume naturally, so therefor there is boost on the otherside of the charger. They are generally called roots or screw chargers.....they literally just move it.

A compressor type like you have or like turbos, the compressor wheel inside the housing compresses the air, adding heat, before it exits the housing.

ummm .. no can u pay? and ill tell everyone you did it and get you lots more business.... also i no longer have my 16v so ud need to buy me one of them too :p
