Superchip and induction

Hi all,

First post on here so apologies if this has been covered before, but this is quite specific and there were no threads when I did a search on it. I own a Cup and I am planning to take it to ABP Motorsport in Chester (the big double page ad thats in EVO magazine every month) to get the Pipercross Viper carbon fibre air intake system (£250 - claimed +10bhp) and a superchip (£270 - claimed +8 bhp) fitted.

Was hoping someone will have had some experience with any of these points - i.e. garage, equipment etc and be able to give me some feedback/advice.

Also, does the redline have to be extended due to the peak bhp/torque being slightly higher?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

if you want to chip your car then a uni-chip is the best ihad 8bhp on my mk2 and they set it all up on the rollers im about to collect a gas flowed head next and a sport cat with all of that i whould be happy with 190bhp and a panel filter, ive fitted tarox breaks and konis as well and it has negative camber it handles like a go cart

Adam,

I was looking into the self-same mods for my 172. After much consideration Ive decided to go for the induction kit and Group N ECU from Hillpower instead.

For starters, if you search for ABP on here you wont find much positive comment. Basically its because Hillpower are Renault specialists and their whole business is based on the quality of their products that Ive decided to go with them.

Just wish the Hillpower IK looked as cool as the Viper... :)

Cheers,

Gareth

hi adam. i had a superchip and magnex exhaust fitted last weekend by abp. i have been there loads of times with various cars and never had any problems. they are always freindly and helpfull. i had my car checked on a rolling road after the work and got 153 bhp at the wheels. and that was with the standard airbox. the chip makes it pull stronger from lower revs and the cup no longer feels like it is going to stall when pulling away.

hope this helps :)

i took my VTR to ABP, i know people cuss them but they were bang on, really couldnt complain, very friendly and efficient.

lol yeah but mines legal so there!

noise aside, dogmauls is legal (until emissions tested)

And when you go in for a service and they open the bonnet and see the Viper

At least with an exhaust it cant invalidate the warrenty on the whole engine (just think if they notice the chip!!)

Errrr apart from on the supersprint system where they might notice the the wire for the second lambda sensor zip tided somewhere....... Ho humm.
