swap head unit from 182 into 172

My oe list head unit jumps often when playing cds, tried cleaning etc but didnt work. Not wanting to go down the road of non standard units I bought a unit from a 182 on e bay thinking it would be a simple swap but the plug for the dash display seems to be different, can I get an adaptor or has anyone got any ideas?

Yes my car is a 53 172 and the donor unit is from a 04 182

As far as i know they are different plugs on the back of the tuner list ( 172 ) and update list (182 ) headunits , even though they look like the same headunit .

The update list headunits were only used after 05, so as long as the donor hu is a tuner list one it'll work fine.

Just bumping this post as not having music in the car is drivin me mad. Surely some of you clio boffins out there have the answer.

The wiring was changed in the 2005 cars that had the Update list h/units, you need to find Tuner list one to make it work.

Already bought the update list unit from e bay, surely there is a simple mod to wiring it!

Nope, different manufacturer, completely different wiring.
Its no use to you, your best bet is to sell it on ebay again and get a tuner list one.

The power leads and the output leads are identical its only the plug that goes to the dash display thats different other than that they are identical.

Yeh but as far as I know theres no way to adapt between the two and seeing as you need the screen its useless.

Sorry to drag on but The screen in the 172 and 182 are identical are they not?

As far as I know the screen is identical across the entire mk2 ph2/3 range, though I can't 100% confirm this.
The only different one will be the 182 with the different wiring for the cabasse hu.
Still, I think it'll be cheaper to get another hu off ebay that to get a dash screen.
