Taking Tension of the Aux belt.

Swapping the belt between 2 engines so need to take the slack off the belt, how do i do it?

Im no expert on this but I thought the aux belt was automatically tensioned. To slacken off the belt you will have to remove the tensioner assembly?

I thought there was a bolt on the alternator you undo to loosen the belt there was on my old 1.4 anyway

Its a spring Loaded Tensioner/Idler Setup... But need to relieve the tension off this. Its one Mega Beefy Spring.

Think so, its just finding something slim enough to get down there. Should be ok with the headlight out i'd have thought.

Ive got the Engine out at the moment so im ok cheers buddy

there is a 3/8ths shaped hole in the tensioner arm so you can sprag on the spring and release tension. doddle if engine is out

I'm doing this as we speak, i'm in the mrs parents garage trying to do it with engine in situe.
Need to get the cambelt off too and the head gasket.

I may just take the engine out this afternoon as its fooking tight down there.
