Testing thermostat

Car  clio 172 phase 2
I bought a new thermostat yesterday so before i put back in i thought id check it opens and is not a dud one . Put it in boiling water on the cooker in a pan . Nothing actually happened ?

Rang the supplier today they said thats not the right way to check its working ?

What shall i do now ? Try it or try another stat from another supplier ?

Hmm... A boiling pan of water with cooks thermometer is how I've tested thermostats before (got a few different temp ones for the Westfield).

Yes i asked them whats the right way . They said just fit it and see . I dont want to take it all apart again after ive fitted it . And i seen a few posts on here about dud thermostats so thats why i wanted to check it . Just boiled the kettle at work and tried it still nothing must be a faulty one . Il try another to see
