That morego 202 clio

  BMW 320d SE
Sounds promising:

Our dyno developed, road and track tested engine conversion turns the Clio 182 into a fast road/track going missile! Throttle response is greatly improved throughout the rev range, the engine is crisper, the revs increase quicker and smoother. The Morego cat back stainless steel exhaust system gives a superb sporty exhaust note when pushed hard (what the 182 always needed!) and is unnoticeable when cruising off load, so will not become annoying on motorways!

Peak power and torque are increased by 12% with a 15% improvement in mid range torque!

Maximum power 202 bhp @ 6550 RPM

Maximum torque 168 lb ft @ 5250 RPM

Conversion Includes:
Replacement Sports Air Filter - A high-flow less restrictive filter that fits to the std air box, each filter is washable and reusable so there is no need to buy a new filter at every service!

Catalyst Back Replacement Stainless Steel Exhaust System - 2 x 3.5inch slash cut trims that sit perfectly within the original bumper apertures whilst matching the curvature of the original bumper.

Exchange High Lift Fast Road Camshaft - Carefully matched with increased duration and valve lift these BBR camshafts give good gains in peak power and mid range torque without affecting the cars STD idle.

Custom Mapped Star*Chip - With careful calibration of the standard vehicles ECU, fuel and ignition requirements have been carefully matched to the mechanical modifications, under all conditions, making this conversion as drivable through town as on the open road!

I remember Evo gave it a pretty good write up a while back but i think they said not to bother with the camshaft and save yourself a load of money.

  Focus ST
^^^yes, but they didn't drive one without the camshaft NickN182.

Sounds too good to be true I reckon, what with the experiences that GDI/AW/Yozzasport have had with tuning that particular engine.

Someone should e-mail them, perhaps get them on the forum, so we can get some questions and see some proof

keep reading............ its £1900 fitted which sounds about right imo

£1200 is just for parts which again sounds right.

BHP claim..........Hmmmmmmmmmmmm who knows unless its RR'd on a impartial RR'd

  BMW 320d SE
Surely though, the star chip must be set up on the car while it's on the RR in order to set it up correctly?

  Focus ST
Yes but it's BBR's rolling road and there is no impartial third party to verify these claims. Surely, if someone has this work done, and their BHP turns out to be much lower, then Morego are going to have problems.

It'd be good if someone on here had the nads to get it done and see what the results are. I wouldnt give a hoot about paper figures as long as it made the 182 noticebaly quicker, which it should do based on a claimed 20+bhp

If mine was standard and I knew nothing of GDI and AngelWorks then I would have taken mine to them tbh.

if other 182's are making more power than that with the same mods then it's a perfectly reasonable claim. tbh from the mods listed i'd say that's about right, but how it transpires onto the road is a diff story.

Evo reviewed this a couple of months ago and road test ed Jethro (who drove it) said smething like 'it's not night and day quicker, but you do notice it - especially when kept in the powerband over 5k'. He seemed quite impressed but recommended the best option was to go for the filter, zorst and StarChip conversion for about £800 fitted.....

go on then, you lot put the cash in & I will get mine done :D

BBR have a very good rep in the car tunning world iirc so I don't think that they would quote figures lightly.

I would consider the remap & cat back system on their own tbh (have an ITG panel filter already). I am sure that this would show a good improvement. (it would be niceto get a before & after rolling road at BBR & an other independent one as well to check the claims.

ohbejesus, its running less mods than all of the other 200bhp clios

so what else is needed to get the 1*2's to over 200bhp? decat, bigger injectors, head work i take it?

lot of money extra... maybe those claims are a tad omtimistic then...

you should all pop down to leeds to get your 172/182`s chipped forget the bhp gains and concentrate on the juicy 12lbft increase and a smooth powerband

£300 iirc

The thing I don't understand about this is that in the reviews I read the limiter had been raised to 7800, yet peak power is produced at 6550 or there abouts. what's the point of that extra revving?

  182>FRS>VX220 now 350Z
Enables you to hold gears on track....dont wanna be running out of revs mid bend now do we ;) lol

It will also hit peak power again a lot quicker. And stay up in that range.

*disclaimer: this may or may not be true, I know sweet F all.

  Focus ST
Yeah it's just the torque and power will be dropping after 6550, so I wonder whether it's worth holding until 7800. Apart from the change from 1st-2nd you don't drop below the 5250 "kick" anyway if you change at the standard limiter.

It all depends on the torque curve and whether they manage to keep the torque at a respectable level up until 7800. Be very interested to see some power/torque curves from BBR actually.

They quote 202bhp then go on to say that the work can be done on a 172 for £50 less, can I take my Cup in and expect an extra 30bhp instead of 20 :D

Isnt the only difference between 182 and cup the revised Renault exhaust? If BBR are putting a new exhaust on then that might be feasible?

Or im talking out my ar53!!

  Focus ST
Hmmm, I'm pretty sure most of the extra 10bhp came from an improved inlet manifold, which BBR won't change so I fail to see how that works.

^^ what he said. personally i dont see how they can get those kind of gains without using really wild cams, that wouldnt be suitable for use on the road

  GDI Demo 182, Rsi Spider
not the case, thats the advantage of the VVT system on the clio, enables wilder cams to run without the idle problems etc.
