The American Dream - My Knight Rider KITT Project :-)

Tell me about it! Thats what General Motors consider as a reasonable replacement in the event of a puncture! Its smaller than the wheels on our lasses Ford Ka!
 
Well kitt has some new bits picked up last weekend. New headlight clusters and new fibreglass t top liner. Also got the correct upper console and correct doorcards! Just need cleaning up and fitting now! Paid for these months ago but last weekend was the first chance I had to pick em up!
In other news KITT had his first outing the other day as he was requested for a wedding but a couple of friends on the KR community, since he is still without mot he had to be on a low loader but once there got to have a play in the hotels HUGE carpark he he
Perfect setting for photos too! Parked him on the hotels helipad and got snap happy! Here are a few of my faves ;)

Was an amazing day and was so good to be a part of the special day! And everyone LOVED the car! Can't wait to get him on the road......... March 2013 is the goal!!
 
Yup it is indeed pennine manor sir! And Dave from TGS was the low loader who took it up! Daves gonna hopefully sort my handbrake and bits for the mot soon
 
Not much to update sadly as weather is s**t an money is bad! But I now have my electronics back with overlays and my switchpods (go either side of gullwing) so it's getting there very slowly

Now I just need the £800 plus fitting to get the dash made and assembled. And the few hundred quid to get his brakes and mot sorted! Fml I want this car ready!!!!
 
This is bloody fantastic! i'll keep an eye out for it around Huddersfield.

You have come a long way in 12 months with it, keep up the good work!
 
Who put the labels on the buttons? Why are they bigger than the buttons and some of them on the piss lol?
 
Lol it will deffo be ready by CSS (assuming thats still in August) as I intend to have it on the road by March :-D and I will be taking him to all the shows thats for sure and certain :D

Got half of the money saved for the dashboard to be made so thats coming along nicely!

My main issue is the bits that need to be done so I can finally get the bloody thing MOT'd! It needs work on the front brakes as I think there is an air leak somwhere as they are truly shocking! And the handbrake is totally fooked, hopefully it is just seized! Trouble is without proper ramps its neigh on impossible to get to the bloody things!

As for the pod labels, I did em thats why they are a bit **** eyed lmao! My hands are NOT steady!
 
Well my mate popped over from Blackpool and we managed to bleed all the braking system :) 3 jobs left for mot now. Handbrake. Horn. Fog lights. All of which are out of my experience range lol. I don't like wiring!
 
Happy new year folks! Well January is "the month". He's booked in at the end of the month for some remedial work ready for the MOT. One garage is doing it all for me so no messing around. At the moment the list of finicky bits that need doing is as follows :- (looks worse than it is ha ha)

1) Rear Fog Light fitted to back bumper and button on dash
2) MOT Pre Check
3) MOT Itself
4) Wire horn into button on dash/lower console
5) Full Brake Check (Still seem weak even after full bleed and change) also drivers side front nipple
6) Handbrake repaired
7) Running rich/high idle in neutral/low idle in reverse/jerkiness when setting off (sticky choke?)
8) Dicky wiring on drivers side headlight causing dipped beam to sometimes not illuminate (comes up with it on, then at full open flickers off) - also probs need aligning for MOT
9) Desperately in need of a coolant change I feel
10) Very slight oil leak from back of engine, centre of car
11) Deffo needs tracking and alignment

In other news my overhead console buttons (set 1 of 3 lmao) arrived and soon the message centre and upper overlay should arrive too!

It's all coming together now. Pmds due in feb an then kitts maiden voyage in march....... Just in time for the shows!
 
LOL you would be surprised how many of my friends who also have KITT replicas, get told "nice batmobile" on a regular basis........ :coffee:
 
Coming soon hopefully in time for summer will be my dash..... This pic is of the same dash as I am having in mine, built by KIRAD, and this is there own KITT. Mine should look identical to this when its finished, Rik is a perfectionist so I know it will be stunning, and if it looks like this I will be like a kid on Christmas morning!
With any luck, if I get saving I might be able to have it all in the car by CSS, I have all the electrics already, just need to save up for the dash shell and for Kirad to build it and install it to the car! Can't wait......first things first though, he's off to the garage first thing Saturday morning for a min of a fortnight for mot prep and then the dreaded mot itself lol

That's the plan eventually. Relevant sounds connected to the pod buttons etc :) making him talk is the easy bit.. There's an app for that. Not advanced but wil do until I get proper voice software on the car which will respond correctly to key phrases :)
 
Well today's the day..... After being worked on for near on 13 months, KITT is finally at the stage of being ready for some garage tlc, and then his MOT..... I've had about 4 hrs sleep, feel like shite, but sat waiting for the Lowloader to come now and pick him up, them I can go over, get him on the ramps and finally see if I missed anything! Fingers crossed eh lol! He's going in for a few bits, most of them simple but impossible for me to do without ramps etc..... Just a case of hoping and praying that there is nothing major he finds when he does the pre mot check.....ill keep you all posted!
 
Well all quite positive, he's at a trans am specialists actually as there was so much needed doing lol, and they do mot so again a bonus! Steve walked round the whole car with me, up on ramps, underneath looks good, missed a bad bit on one sill where the exhaust sits close to at the front, but he said I wouldn't have spotted it easily on axle stands so not to feel bad lol
Exhaust needs a new centre bracket, and attaching properly at the back
Engine wise he says the chokes sticking and the timings badly out, and that it's well overdue a coolant change. Wiring bits are piece of piss, no probs there.
Brakes wise, he thinks I was given the wrong length cable when I replaced the front ones. Ad that maybe the calipers are seized a bit, but all in all no massive shocks or huge issues......gonna be a slow process though as he has a lot of work on, but mines got its slot now and should be back with me at the end of feb :)
