It's in, the extra 5cm seems to be on the thread, panic over....hopefully.
I wasn't looking forward to this as I knew it would be a pain in the arse.
I was right, four hours later and a lot of swearing it's done.
Had this Kam racing mount knocking about for years so while I'm down there...
Old one was f*cked.
Still need to fit the seat harness and a new battery tray but a ratchet strap will do for now, can't think of anything else it needs for an MOT.
I think that's it.

Why do I always end up with potato phones?
With the wind noise and rear boot trim rattling like an old touring car, the phone has massacred the audio, it sounds way better than this, but f*ck it, it's done and it's quick again. 😁

It's home.
Clutch is a bit high, but I'm used to an old Golf tdi with a meaty clutch so it might just be a case of getting used to it again, I do have a new clutch sitting in a box thanks to Filters, (I can't spell his new username) so not an issue if it needs swapping.
I also hate my new seat, it's rock hard on my arse and I can't get on with the sit up and beg seating position, so I'd welcome some advise on what bucket seats are comfy.
But despite those very minor issues I'm really happy it's home, the generosity of this club has honestly blown me away, I wasn't expecting anyone to cover the bills or supply parts so to everyone that chipped in thank you very very much, you've made an old hippy loner feel very loved.

For the first time ever the insurance was cheaper than the tax, they said it's fallen into the retro category and because it's not my main car it's also cheaper, which is mad because my postcode is classed as a DMZ by most insurers.

Did 1 night rally with some of those and I couldnt get them out of the car fast enough when I got home.

Yeah I can see why they're so cheap now, a bloody fold up camping chair would be more comfortable.
