Re: someph-ing different...........
another long update then, booked the day off work especially then spent 11 hours on her today..although doesn't seem like i got much for it. here we go then
first job was to sort the air intake out, i had been working on this through the week, gave it plenty enough time to dry and knew i would be working on it today.
so the induction trumpet was inserted to the ducting then jubilee clipped, this was then placed inside the fog light holder and clear sealed in (i was surprised at the fog light holders, really not that easy to work with
the clear sealant on the rear (may look messy but you don't see it and it works a treat)
ok, then to move outside, got the car in the air and removed the front 2 wheels (more to come with that)
took the arch liner out and then set to work removing the original ducting
all gone
and out
i then placed my new ducting and fog assembly in
i had a good look at the length and then cut it down to the appropriate size.
as i was only have ducting to the one hole in the airbox from here i looked at how i could use the other hole, i then fabricated this from the 2 pipes of the original piece.
from the picture you can see them both in place
and from this picture where the second induction piece sits, just behind the vents under the headlight, perfect.
ok then, next bit
to give the calipers that i started the other day more coats, this ended up being 3 coats in the end, but look good for it.
and then more yellow, in the engine bay, i was going to totally remove this but found some bits difficult so removed most bits and then could move it around a bit, i decided to paint it in situ, after 1 coat
whist this was drying i attacked the wheel bolts, black to match the wheels
and then set about washing, scratch-x'ing, and waxing the front 2 wheels, once waxed they were left for an hour to coat well.
a shot of the front with the new fog light induction
the drivers side will be fitted tomorrow, i needed to use the piece i trimmed from the passenger side for the drivers so couldn't bond it together until i had the trimmed piece.
removed the bonnet sound deadening as this would rub against my newly painted engine cover.
this was then lunchtime, this was brief but did include a chat with my insurance company, i managed to get around £150 off my renewal price, now around £400, 24 years old, fully comp with 4 years ncb.
took the wheel wax off then treated them to some extra gloss protection too
then put the spangly front wheels back over the newly painted brakes
right, to the back then, rear wheels removed to start on them, again washed, scratch-x'ed, then waxed,
so whilst that was coating i then went back to the engine bay, another coat of paint for that, then some detail for the text
once this had all dried i put my newly painted engine cover back on
and then finished the rear brakes, the rear wheels were waxed off'd and then gloss protected.
that was basically it, i refitted the wheels and then gave it a quick clean. there were a few things that i wanted to do but didn't get done, i also wanted to paint the fuel rail guard but with the hassle from the inlet i left it for today. also wanted to paint the wiper cover in the rear window, it was such a pain trying to remove the wiper i left it after breaking a piece, new wiper needed now.
very happy though, looks as i wanted, got to attach the other induction trumpet tomorrow morning.
keep an eye on the thread, coilovers soon.
