Page 100, thats escalated, and what do I have to show for it after 100 pages.... a shell, albeit a painted one, a very very GREEN one :up:

What shade did you go for Porsche green ?

I believe the same colour as yourself. RAL 6018. I narrowed it down and finally it was between Racing Blue and this green and seeing yours really swung it for me. I really hope you take it as a compliment. Is RAL 6018 actually used on anything in particular?

Wow what a blast from the past I remember reading this when I first signed up many many years ago. When are you aiming to have this on the road?

Unsure yet as another life change is about to happen, but that is why the car is being pushed through (to get it water tight). It will probably be pretty much done before March/April however there will be things needed like wheels, exhaust and a map, but that may have to wait a while... its a bit up in the air at the moment

I don’t think 6018 was used on anything in particular , more used as a base to blend from.
Looks like a really nice job , mine was a track car £400 2 day turn around job

At least its not exactly the same with this being a phase 1, I am also picking items out in yellow and black so will be a little different. Still very much a tip of the cap to you though. It is quite a nice job and with it being all over, inside, outside, underside it was far from a 2 day £400 turnaround... #facepalm. I do want to pick up some RAL 6018 aerosol though for some other bits, you found any about?

Looks great.
You should be able to get some made up at your local car paint supplier.
Ours will mix and put it into aerosols for us.

I got tins mixed at my local Auto paints a few weeks ago, I painted my FG tailgate with them in the past and the match was perfect.

Black , green, yellow... actually looks good together

UPDATE:
I have had to do a bit of juggling the past week or so as the car is again not top of the priority list just now. The life change I am talking of (and I think previously mentioned) is that of moving house again. My wife and I have the opportunity to redevelop a barn so to start the process our house needed to be on the market...

SORTED, however with that now done I may need to accommodate potential viewings, meaning this lot had to be moved back into the garage... VERY CAREFULLY

With the rebuild gaining pace another item that needs a little bit of attention is the engine. It needs the cambelt and water pump changing, a general check over and a rebuilding back up, perfect that there is a very reputable local tuner that I get on very well with. The engine has been dropped off and I will be working on it this week.

I have also collected my replacement bolts for my front subframe and rear beam refresh from Cromwells. @Tomotek originally posted about doing this (with the codes) I used this, I doubled them so I have spares and also added a few other items and collected them last week. After sorting them tonight I think I have been given a couple of wrong items - best chase that up asap. I also need to get nuts for these asap.

Getting there, but still a fair few things to sort and pick up. I am enjoying the pace it is now running at, but my wallet isn't. ha.

How many times have you moved house now whilst this car has been in bits? Jesus wept.

Tell me about it.... 7 moves, this will be the 8th and a 9th will follow. But 8 is to be on-site of the renovation of 9.... pretty exciting. The car hasn’t moved all of those times, but not far off.

UPDATE:
With the shell ready, everything else needs to come together now to start bolt back on. One of the main priorities for this being the engine (obviously). Although looked after and visually tarted up the engine needed a service prior to going back into the car. In a previous post I had dropped it at the workshop of BEANIESPORT and last week I went down and worked alongside (read as watched) Chris change the cambelt and correctly time it up, at the time of the cambelt change the waterpump, dephaser, oil seals were also replaced - in time I really want to learn how to do this job myself.

Once this was done I relieved chris back to his multiple Meglio conversations he seems to be popular for now and carried on with bolting up the various items to the block myself. I needed to change the sump out for a sump that I picked up from BigAsh a while ago, this has a temp sensor welded into it and matches up with his loom, so old sump off - new sump with new seal on. I then also bolted up a couple of extra items such as the alternator brackets and alternator and then fitted a new Oil filter.

For ease of transport the engine was then brought home and placed back on my stand for the rest of the assembly.
Once home I needed to try and figure out what I was going to do with the accessories belt as I am not running any power steering. I know Pure do a kit but I don't really want to run extra things. This is again where James (BigAsh) stepped in and mentioned about a shorter belt, a 5PK 837, luckily he had one lying around so I could offer this up before purchasing. It looks like it would just about go, however I am at the bottom of my alternator adjustment so am a little puzzled how to fit it. (see below).

You will also see from the pics that I have also bolted up a couple of extra items, the breather plate is now bolted on (with the advised Loctite 518) and the exhaust manifold has been bolted up (with a new gasket). Next bit will probably be bolting up the flywheel (with new bolts) and gearbox (with new clutch), James has given me a stand that bolts up to the block and allows it to sit off the floor so will make it nice and easy to bolt up the gearbox, we will then leave it on this and lift the car down over it, or the engine up to the shell, hopefully minimising effort and damage.

In the meantime I have been ordering and chasing orders for bits all over the place. New top mounts were needed as the old Compbrake ones were rubbish so when Pure released thir revised items at the tail end of last week they were ordered (old items removed - they had a stupid sized top net, useful)

and finally I have all the bolts, washers and nuts to overhaul the front and rear running gear. It was a proper effort as I kept getting sent the wrong items. I also have now sorted a spreadsheet with all the item codes and specs on, along with Torques. As my inspiration for this (@Tomotek) did I ordered a spare set of everything, this will go in a spares box. OCD is a good thing....

I also got some presents turn up yesterday from Mitch at Proline Motorsport. I ordered brake lines and fuel lines from Mitch and am very much looking forward to running these through the car. Ordered in black to keep them subtle and all with bulkhead fittings to keep them nice and neat (Tilton bias valve is to follow).

UPDATED (continued):
The fuel line will only have a bulkhead fitting at the bulkhead, and then at the rear will pass through a grommet in the fuel pump cover. I picked up the fuel pump cover from James (BigAsh) and then found the grommet in my spares. Perfect.

The priority for the next stage is to get the rear beam bolted up (hopefully this afternoon). To do that I needed to start assembling the rear beam. I added the new Powerflex bushing sleeves (effort) and then bolted up mounts, I will be lifting that to the car today, I have some concern about the thread length on the bolts I have but can't really tell until I offer it up - hopefully it will be ok.

Whilst working on the rear beam I noticed that I had originally left the brake line and bias valve mounts on there. As the bias valve will now be inside the car I could remove these. This was done and the beam was given an updated lick of paint. It is now ready to bolt on so lets see how I get on offering it up.

Overall circumstances have changed again for my wife and I with an illness in the family. We have had to have a rethink and although our plans were very exciting in renovating a barn our priorities have to be with family (obviously). This means we are currently staying put for a while and the barn will wait. What this does mean for the car though is that it does not have to go back together as rushed as initially planned, however I do want to keep up this momentum. Watch this space.

I use this, form Euro Car Parts.

UPDATE:
So I planned to mount the rear beam up, however I anticipated an issue. Having looked at the rear beam mount bolts it looked like there wasn't enough thread to them and the clean part of the bolt sat to low. This was ok when on @Tomotek's car as he had the cage pick up point, but as mine doesn't have that they sit lower. I need to space the 2 inner (on both sides) rear beam mount bolts upwards at least 15mm to be showing only thread. (see pic below)

This will probably be done with stainless spacers like these like @scotiamr2t suggested in another thread, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainles...4?clk_rvr_id=1451675908659&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true the 19mm versions should be spot on, annoying but things need to be right.

With that off the cards for a while I moved to looking at the front subframe and exchanging the nuts and bolts on this for the new head cap bolts. I changed out the wishbones and then moved to bolting up the steering column which was a little fussy but sorted in the end.

It was at this point I realised that I hadn't painted the dogbone mount so that came off and was painted up ready to go back on...

Not much achieved really, but will be cracking on in future, and especially when the weather gets a little warmer ffs...

Surely you can just buy fully threaded bolts rather than part threaded? If you going to order spacers you might as well just order new bolts.

I had a similar issue with rear beam bolts when I replaced one after cutting one out. Luckily my brother is a dab hand on a lathe and sorted it.

Also what rear beam bolts are you using, as in the head on them? As I found the recessed cap head thing utter useless, hence cutting one out. I put a nice hex head one on in the end so you could stop it turning in the hole.

On another note, colour scheme looks smart that green and yellow. Is there going to be a lot of yellow or just the occasional part like the subframe?

Do you have a tap and die set? Could you not just cut more thread onto the bolts? I'd be wary that a spacer could potentially allow movement in the fixing.

This was my thought I must admit about the movement, hence why I haven't ordered the spacers yet. I will look to see if I can get the thread cut higher first (neighbour is an engineer), then maybe look at longer threaded bolts before buying the spacers.

Cap head head bolts so will need 2 people when tightening down but that is fine, I wanted to ditch the OE items, they were terrible.
Occasional yellow, it was the same colour shcheme as when the car was silver - the green has just replaced the silver
