i am just reading about the Pixel, says the battery life is really poor, that's enough to put me off.

These list it as being poor? a full day with little use would be the minimum i would be looking for?

Edit, sorry that is the 4 XL.

Ordered the OnePlus Nord today to replace my 2.5+ year old Note 8.
It's not perfect, but at £379 it should be a decent replacement for my aging Note 8.
I was a little concerned about the camera ability initially, but I think from the reviews it seems pretty solid using the main lens, wide angle isn't the best, but as I've not had it before, I'm not too concerned, and it seems ok in decent light.
Wish it had a 3.5mm jack, but already have some decent Cambridge audio earpods, so not the end of the world.

I had considered the pixel 4a, but didn't want a smaller phone than I already had. So ruled it out. I had hoped they'd bring out a XL version.

Seems to be loads of decent options at sub £400 at the minute. Really don't see the point in paying £1k + for a phone right now.

I'd agree about the pricey phones, but for the spec bump, the OnePlus 7t pro seems better value at £570

Perhaps. I'd not considered it to be honest. However, I'm not that keen on a curved screen, it still doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, it's almost 1 year old, so likely only to get updates for another year. And is almost 50% more money.

I had been eyeing up the 8 prior to lockdown, but don't think the extra cost is justified over the Nord. Time will tell I guess.

I'm not expecting it to last another 2.5 years mind before my next upgrade.

That'll be why then. the 4 XL was woeful. The 4A has a bigger battery that has less work to do...hence the full day without issue.

I've been reading more on the 4A and watched a few other first impression videos. Love it. As a diehard Google device Android user that's decision made for me.

i am considering a Galaxy S10 + now, better battery than an S10, slightly bigger screen, apart from the camera and 8k video doesn't seem that far behind an S20, and it's a fair bit cheaper.

I never got the criticism of the 4XL battery? I've got one and it's never, ever, run out during the day, even with fairly heavy (for me) usage of video calling / media playback / calls / browsing etc.

I believe the 4 wasn't great, but the 4XL has a much bigger battery.

I'm not a heavy user myself...what's hopeless for many is perfectly adequate for me!

I have no first hand experience of either of the 4s... but all the reviews of the 4A thus far make a point that the battery is bigger than the 'flagship' 4 battery.

Autofocus fixed. 8k video (I know) 9ms spen latency! Wild!

Not for me this year as doesn't offer a big jump from the 10+. Nice phone though. I mean, look at it!

Whatched the unpacked event. If I didn't upgrade to the s20+ a few month back I probably would of got it considering I came from The note 9. I'll wait for the next one. It does look great and I like the green

Upgrade due end of August.

Dismissed the SE, its too small etc.
Had a mess with an 11, not sure I like the swipe function but obviously used to my pro 20. Don't think I want another android phone as tbh as may aswell just keep mine. Its been brilliant.

May wait for the 12 but contract prices are probably going to be high as normal.

Third world problems.

I was sure I was going to stick with the Pixel line of phones after being really impressed with the Pixel 2, but after bad reviews of the Pixel 4 I thought I'd wait for the 4a, but I got fed up of waiting and went for the Oppo Find X2 Neo, really impressed with it so far, £38 a month with 25gb of data, unlimited calls and texts on EE plus a B&O speaker for pre-ordering it.

I think i am going to get an S20, vodafone are offering me one with 30gb of data, for £38 a month, i am paying £33 a month now on my S8.

Seems a good price. I pay 34 at the mo and set my self a 40 a month budget.

Really not sure what to get next yet
for the sake of £3 a month i might as well get as an S10 + would be £35.00 a month, and it's 5g, so think i am going to pull the trigger, phones are getting expensive now though, £38 on a 24 month contract isn't a bad deal i don't think

That's very good. I pay £66 on my S20+ with unlimited everything. They always say that's the best deal they've given me 😂

My S10+ is due for an upgrade next month. Not really too sure what to get. It still seems to do a good job.

Not sure if a Note would be too big

Got a Oneplus 8 Pro 256gb coming tomorrow. Always held off Oneplus phones as they fell just short of other flagships with a few features. Not now it seems. I've always had HTCs for years so will be interesting to see how Oxygen OS compares. Looking forward to a jump in speed, battery life, warp charging, AMOLED display. Not a fan of the green colour but it's going straight in a black Spigen away.

Mine not so much. But my phone takes a battering in work, knocked about regularly, can't fault the Spigen on it. Going for a tempered glass screen protector too as this phone is a bit dearer than I usually spend.

Where did you get that from? Most places are showing out of stock.

Really happy with the OnePlus 8 pro. So fast, Oxygen OS is nice and clean. 120hz refresh rate is lovely to use, camera is good, macro decent, can see me using that in work a bit. Overall liking it a lot, definitely level with the flagships now.

What do you guys think?
S20 or OnePlus 8 Pro?

Tempted to stray away from Samsung for a cleaner Android experience. Cost isn't an issue as work pay for it.

They seem to have good deals on there. Can be a pain swapping your number over maybe?. Suppose lots do it.

I always look for deals without an upfront fee. But seen a couple with a small upfront cost that works out better. One was like £9.99 lol.

With the Iphone 12 coming out do we think the likes of the 11 will drop?.

Atm I just dont see a phone that really grabs me. If I could combine the full camerless screen of the one plus 7 pro with the features of the 8 pro that would be my perfect phone. I never use the front camera and I just use the phone mainly to read articles or watch youtube so having a full screen would be great.

Out of the s20 and oneplus I prefer one plus because I can have the higher resolution screen with 120hz enabled. My gf just got the A71 and it's actually pretty decent, if you dont care about having the highest quality screen resolution I would recommend especially for the price.
