Not had much chance to mess with it yet but I like how much it changes colour in the light.
A few mm bigger either way than my oppo but feels lighter

This is literally a straight out the box picture 😂 big difference!

Also ignore the cat hairs 🙄 little s**t lol

The charger is massive and weighs a tonne. But it charges from 0-100 in <20 mins apparently

Found one hiccup, but not with the phone. With 3! Got one bar of signal in my house 😂
My WiFi always seems to slow down so quite a few times I end up on phone data, can't be having that being slow too. Will give it a couple days and see what it's like at work, if it's not upto speed then I'll just send it back and get a Vodafone one same price

Why is the WiFi slow? In a house with hard wire it should be decent. Use the 5ghz trick if you can with the router. 10mb down difference in my house. Just let's different devices use different bands.

Definitely works.

Otherwise not much you can do about the outside signal bar a booster if they do them.

Lovely phone though!

It used to be alright, and I'm on 110mb Virgin. Just seems these last month or 2 I'm browsing and nothing loads right until I switch WiFi off and use mobile data
We've got 4 phones, 4 TV's/now TV, tablets, laptop, and all the Alexa stuff so should upgrade my data package?

On 3 site it says signal is good in my area but in the house doesn't seem too good.
Like I say I'll try it for a week, if it's shite, go Vodafone see what they're like. I've got 3 bars on EE, one bar on 3

Ask Virgin if that's their latest router.

We changed packaged with Sky and got their newest one. Night and day compared to the previous one.

If everything is on the same GHz I'm not surprised it's slow! I'm only on 40mb rural ish and never once had slow connections. At 110mb I'd want to get to the bottom of that!

The pixel 4 is decent enough. Its technically better in someways than the 5.

Right not I have 45 tabs open in opera, 6 apps in the background. I don't take many 4k videos but I have never noticed it struggling? And I don't edit videos. If I did edit videos I would do it online via my google account.

Why would I want a stylus? The screen res seems decent, believe its an OLED. I mean, have they peaked? I can see the attraction of the Samsung fold 2 but its serious money. I have a decent desktop and laptop and an iPad, how much does a phone really need to do?
Because gamechanger

I thought going S8+ to S21 Ultra was a big jump. Will be a nice upgrade that. Yearly upgrades are pointless these days I'll probably stick with this until around S24 if it lasts until then. Not much changes year to year anyway.

Bought it outright, I get a little contribution from work as well. Its the 256G version so was £1250.

Obviously its a massive step up in performance from my old donkey S7. They feel pretty much the same user wise but its android so it would. The screen is amazing. The Cameras on it are insane. Im finding the S-pen a lot more useable than i thought i would. Comparing it next to my girlfriends 13pro max they are both very similar in what they can do.

Overall the cameras on the S22 are better i think. That really shows its self at night and using the zoom features. The stabilisation for the camera is outstanding even when using the 100x ultra/space zoom.

This is from messing about last night while freezing to death and getting battered by the wind. Need a full moon to check out the AI fakery it can do.

I'm genuinely confused!

I've messed with all the new android phones coming through work.. They're just newer and faster than my s8, they're just an android phone?

A Windows laptop is a Windows laptop.

Missus has an s10, its the same as the s8, its the same as the s21 I've used.

I think if you boil it down and aren't really invested in it, you can look at it like this; I do.

The thing that normally has me change phone is battery performance getting poor, not a desire to have a new phone, because it's only iterations on top end things I'll never utilise anyway.

Agreed, these days there isn't much difference from one year to the next, especially to the average user.

I think the main areas of improvement that are noticeable are battery performance (however, a lot of the time this is just because the phone/battery is new), and camera performance.

I upgraded from my OnePlus Nord that I paid less than £400 for on release to a Pixel 6 Pro. Day to day usage is no different, but the Camera is much much better. And actually the battery live on the Nord after a year of usage was at least on a par with the new Pixel. But the Nord would charge probably 3 times faster.

I used to change phones every 6-9 months may years ago, but these days I don't typically bother, I only bought the Nord because my2.5 year old Galaxy Note (can't remember which model), was giving poor battery life, and i had to carry around a portable charger whenever i was travelling on the train for the day for work.

The S22 is a good phone itself. Flagshippy and size are a bit hard to find. You usually compromise somewhere.

Unless apple boy then a normal pro is a great size.

Noticing a big, annoying issue with this new phone and it seems to be Bluetooth related.
It won't connect to my echo auto properly meaning I can't use it, I can put music on my phone and it will play through the car, but asking Alexa anything doesn't work and calls don't.
It also won't connect to my Huawei smart watch properly. I'll receive notifications for an hour or so then it won't do it until I go on the app, disable notifications, then enable again.
It did just update to miui 13 / android 12 other day not sure if there could be a bug in that I'll have to do some digging

Off topic, is the Alexa auto good? I don't have Bluetooth in my current car but do have an auxiliary input. Looking to be able to stream music and take calls through the car whilst driving for work?

Exactly what I use it for, ask Alexa to play heart dance etc or call someone, nice and easy!
Also use it to ask for directions and it'll automatically load Google maps up on my phone (well it did on my old one 😂)

Deciding to go down the route of buying a phone outright then going sim only as it seems to be much much cheaper.

Comparing s22 ultra the phone can be had for £800 then £8 a month for 30gb of data. Compared to the cheapest deal I've seen for it @ £1300 total it seems a no brainer.

Best way imo. Although the initial payment is big you soon forget about it and left with a nice cheap monthly bill. I like unlimited everything so those deals are usually £50-60+ a month which I'd rather not have to pay.

As I still contemplate my next phone purchase.

Also check out the insane ram management in my note10+. Ive seen me scroll back to an app 2-3 days ago and it's still not reloading. Watch from 5.15 for ram/loaded app check.

Anyone with a Pixel 6 Pro, have connection/signal issues. Whenever I'm out and pull my phone out it seems to be 50/50 whether I've got any signal or not.

If I refresh the connection, it typically works straight away.

I'm on GiffGaff, but didn't notice any of these problems before, so suspect it's most likely the phone.

Mine seems fine to be honest.

Have you got the latest March update? Was just released yesterday IIRC and apparently fixes a lot of the outstanding issues.

Installed the March update yesterday, took ages for some reason.

Too early to tell yet whether it's done the trick, as I've only left the house a couple of times, but seems fine so far, so I'm hopefully this has sorted it.

It took an absolute age to install and an absolute age to get to us! Let's hope things continue to improve, google have left themselves down a bit I think.

Despite me seeing the s22 ultra in person and thinking it was too big...

I cannot put up with my huawei anymore as I'm having to charge it twice a day without fail. Also the 128gb is killing me. Having to delete stuff all the time. Surprised its lasted this long tbh.

Anyway I've managed to grab a 512gb s22 ultra on ebay for a good price. It will work out at £40 a month which I'm dead happy about.

Can't wait to have storage space 😂

40 a month is great. I played with one for a few hours during the week. Those camera modules are insane. Utterly insane! Couldn't believe how big they were in person.

My S21 camera is great. I do prefer ym wife's iPhone 13 for portraits. The white balance on the Samsung always seems to be a bit off

As in how much they stick out?

I will definitely be getting a case that makes them level with thr back of the phone for sure.

Did you like the phone? Pics look really good

Nah they don't stick out that much it's just because they are now individual without the module. Much classier design. I mean the actual circumference! Fair play Samsung.

I recommend the dbrand atomic case very good or a Samsung leather one. Depending on the protection you need.

The S21U is an incredible camera aswell. Video and portrait better on the iPhone. The portrait is better on the s22u now. All the videos came to that conclusion. Great hair detection.

Those cases look good.

I've opted for a pikata magsafe case and ordered the wireless magnetic car charger too which I'm sure will come in handy.

Absolutely mad how much the price of stuff adds to what was originally a good deal haha
