From the feel pov it's heavier and thicker. That z7 is really like nothing else when you have it in the hand. See Michael Fishers review. The fold 10 does have some cool things and I love the software of the pixels. 3 of my in laws have had pixel for at least 5 years.

After holding the z7 everything else now looks and feels old. The fold 10 obviously won't be a bad phone. Just wide front screen and heavier but that's just me. Also plenty of reviews even pre released.

I've calmed down on the 100x zoom pigeon photos for now where it's clearly making stuff up, but the AI zoom is still really good at cleaning up mid / low-light stuff at high zoom levels:

The os is terrible.
I know it's android, and I've used android since the oneplus one, but I need customisation that Samsung and oneplus offer, and so to find it not in vanilla android is a little frustrating.

This being ui configuration means I can't get on with it, it's too cluttered, and even the home/back/applications navigation bars can't be reordered.
Given I've had it the way I have had it since 2014; it's a seemingly small thing that's causing me to not like the whole device.

I'll persevere, as I've just dropped £78 on a case and screen protector 😂😂, used a custom launcher to see if I can get it to a tolerable state, but it's going to take a lot of work.
I increased the dpi of the icons, but unfoldered, they're huge, they don't seem to scale very well.

Nova launcher on my pixel as per my Galaxy and it's pretty much the same.

Bar the frustrating gestures which let the whole thing down 😂

I'm sure if I scale back the icon size it won't be an issue.
It's a lot of f**king around when they could just have things like folders in the app drawer by default.

See, for me, the icons when closed are the ideal size, but when open, they're huge.

Then it's just a wall of apps, whereas on my Samsung I have pages (like the home screen)
Nova supports this, I think, but I really don't see why freedom of the app drawer isn't standard.

I detailed my reasons for not wanting a Samsung, notably the best part of £2k with no warranty, on a phone that folds in the f**king middle, it's probably best I retain a warranty and live with the software quirks.

Coming in to a week of usage, the app drawer thing is still quite annoying, I haven't had the enthusiasm to make an alternative, so been running Nova in vertical scroll mode.

The phone itself, think it's a bit gimmicky. Not used it unfolded at all, all week. Struggling to see a beneficial use case in fairness, which just means I've got an expensive, chunky, pixel 10 pro.

I'm back in the office next week, so maybe my usage will change slightly, but right now, whole the hatred is not so strong, I don't really see the point in it. It's quick though, seriously quick.

I can do that, but then, having used android since 2011, maybe even earlier, i'd be making a fundamental change in how i have used the phone for nearing 15 years - and I cant really be arsed with that.

I’m still on my iPhone 11 that I bought in Beijing in 2021. I’m soon to move into my own gaff and I’m thinking of using my GiffGaff data instead of getting the interweb installed as I think I can manage on the unlimited everything tariff they offer for £15 a month. My iPhone 11 is only 4G but the iPhone 17 is 5G, and coverage where I’ll move to is very good. The 11 also needs a new battery and Apple will offer £80 for the phone as a trade.
So, thoughts on an upgrade for the above reasons welcome.

Thought I should add that I don't watch TV so won't be getting a license etc. I only watch YouTube etc and 'stream' the odd footy game, the odd F1 race and the odd boxing ding dong....nothing else. I don't think I'll go anywhere near their 'reasonable amount of data use' limit.

Read a tad more, seems you have. Latest update gives drawers and Nova Now.

Picked up a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL 512GB refurbished £499.

Seems nice only one small scratch on the screen but cannot see it when its in use.
Not for me but seems to do the job.

Mous case ordered so its at least protected a bit.
