The new steed (RB200)

I’d prob like the sprint booster, I’m not concerned about any performance gain but just want the pedal to fee the same as my 172.

Best thing I did on my 200 was remove the filter screens from the cam timing solenoid.

Was always randomly flat as a pancake which I hear a lot about the 197/200. I went to my mates one day and it was feeling flat, I lifted the solenoid out just to check and clean the filter screens (which to be fair looked pretty clean) popped it back in but when I drove home it was a different car. Made me think so took it out again and removed the filter screens and it’s not had a flat feel ever since and that must be 3-4 months now. It’s something we used to do on the imprezas with the AVCS heads. Maybe the solenoid needs replacing and removing the filter restriction helped that bit extra with oil flow.

Lovely car mate. I just got tagged from John to sort the horrible flat spot on my 200. I’m putting a standard air box back in and fixing an exhaust leak. But I’ll give the VVT solenoid a look as well

Your car is perfect spect BTW. If that came up when I was looking I would have been all over it. But it would prob have been double what I was looking to spend as well [emoji23].

Only thing is. That silver centre cap is triggering my OCD.

Thanks mate - it wasn’t an easy task finding anything never mind a low mileage 200 with this spec, that’d have given a fkin migraine a sore heed!

Pcv actually looks very similar to the clio diesel one. They block up easily in the dervs so defo worth cleaning. Carefully pop it apart with a small screwdriver.

Goes in between the loom and pedal socket. Does sharpen up throttle, but beware i ran it on the rollers and it lost like 10bhp from when it was first mapped.

I refitted a standard air box today and it def feels a bit better cold / at parts throttle.

I also cleaned out the PCV and took the VVT solenoid out. Both were pretty clean. Just a little emulsification in the PCV.

I think the rest of the hesitation / flat spot I have is from the exhaust. It’s a non standard manifold and the joint to the mid section has a slight blow.

Excuse the badly painted inlet.

Fair play David mate - i understand they don’t run worth a f**k on the normal unleaded! I’ve always used the good stuff!

I’ve got all the above to check but from a quick check the MAF sensor has been cable tied already!

So the wheels were the only part of the car letting it down cosmetically, i got them done by a friend who has a lot of experience in wheel painting (Archlight Restorations), will let the pictures do the talking!

Back to satin black - centre caps matched also!

Theres a set of speedlines on market place although it says in the advert ones slightly buckled - in Stirling too.

Bought them tonight. I seen them advertised last week but he was only looking to sell three of them. Now he was selling all 4 I was def interested. Got centre caps as well but they are silver. [emoji23]

Theres a rattle coming from underneath, the heat shield just above the diffuser/beam is missing one of those weird clips they use - the thread is exposed so i’m thinking i may be able to get a nut and washer on it? Anyone any idea what nut size is required?

Taking a trip to a camping pod in Wigtown with the missus - highly recommended! The big rock in the first picture is the Ailsa Craig on the Firth of Clyde. Weather is absolutely amazing! - highly recommend! This is the third camping pod we’ve done, they are mega, very well kitted out!

(Wigwam Holidays)

Cars knocking on the offside front still so booked in to Rentec in Edinburgh next Tuesday to see what the issue!

Probably not far off.

Load of places selling 6 piece kits for the parts. Ranging from £100 for eBay specials to £400 of some of the specialists websites. Then labour on top.

Personally I’ll just be taking mine apart. Getting the hubs aqua blasted at the unit across the road and getting the best balljoints I can from dingbro.

I bought a spare pair of used hubs for £120 and a pair of ball joints from Kam were the same £. I only did one side for the mot but I think the other needs doing too. Stupid car 😩.

I’m throughly prepared to bare the brunt of getting both sides done that way i know its done💀

Not much of an update but more financial demolition…

So turns out the grumbling on the o/s of the Clio turned out to be a wheel bearing and not a swivel hub as i initially thought, when the lad that works on my motor inspected it he found that the front of the motor was wearing two different f**king springs altogether

I just don’t understand how the f**k that happens, furthermore, two genuine cup springs and two genuine wheel bearings later (the n/s was starting to hum the tune of its people so f**k it, replace that b*****d as well.

The tracking’s going to need doing after this as well i suspect.
