I hope they're not real.

I like my white 5. Mrs' black 5 looks nice ALL black, not with a silver surround.

If I was due an upgrade i'd either get one, sell it and continue using my 4s, or just go sim only.

I very much doubt it, the c sounds for cheap pauper spec, so 128gb of storage would not make it cheap.....

People have started camping outside the 5th Avenue store in New York already for the release of the next phone.

That is really sad tbh! They do know they have probably 11-12 days to wait??

Bets on 5S 128gb price... £799?

I used an HTC one over the weekend and the swype/trace keyboard is absolutely amazing - Any idea if the new iphone will include this? I couldn't beleive how easy it was and always got the word right. I could be tempted to go android for that feature alone.

I think I would prefer an iPhone with a rounded plastic exterior. I much preferred the feel of the 3 to the 4.

I will probably end up getting the 5S unless the 5C has an identical spec though (which I doubt it will).

They are starting to be like any other manufacturer now. Releasing too many products, too many variations i.e Samsung/HTC

I do love Apple stuff, it get's me excited.

When Jobs was gone last time, the company went down the pan, I have a feeling it'll do again but he won't be able to come back and fix things, as he'll be having too much fun with Elvis!

Shame really.

Swipe really is a beautifully simple but effective thing. I couldn't be without it now...pressing individual letters to compose a message? WTF is that all about!

I don't even think that's the problem at Apple. I think they're making the same mistakes that Nokia, Blackberry and all of the other "biggies" made, that is that they're peddling water.

iOS6 was terrible, as best it could be described as a point release of iOS5.

Their reluctance (arrogance?) to listen to their users is their biggest downfall.

What must be the biggest gripe since iOS2 is the inability to remove the stock apps from the home screen. Come on Apple, this is BASIC stuff.
Tethering is abysmal, quite why it needs to be locked into carrier settings is odd, Apple control the carriers - not the other way round.
Voicemail, why the f**k can't you set the voicemail number?
Default apps, little support for replacing OS functionality with third party apps.
Widgets. Come on, it's 2013.

The lack of "development" on iOS6 was a major contributing factor for me moving to Android, something which I never thought would happen.

Hardware is meh, it's very difficult to create "wow" hardware now because at the end of the day there's not really that much more you can add to a phone, but software is what defines the experience and they have let things slip.

They changed the smartphone market, they defined what a smartphone was and how it should behave, I think they need to remember this.

The whole foundation which apple was created on was about them controlling the user's end experience, not open systems like microsoft etc. So being able to remove the basic apps and use solely third party apps is not going to happen.

That's just not true. I can quite happily replace the default browser and mail programs under OS X, hey it even provides a nice list of compatible programs along with a default for any file type. Heck I could even do it under system 9 when Microsoft actually provided a version of internet explorer for Mac or nutscrape.

All of the stock apps in iOS should be hideable, it's of no consequence to apple or the user experience if I should be able to hide stocks or that crappy magazine app that I bet most people have empty. In fact, you could argue that its more confusing because third party apps can be removed while the stock ones can't (remove or hidden using the standard mechanism) and therefore there's a conflict in the operation.

I agree that they're historically opposed to change. System 1 to 9 changed little in look and feel, OS X was a huge change. But from 10.0 to now there has been little change, stripes in the background have been toned down. Same for iOS, however, with 7 they've realised they've got to make a change...so a leopard can change its spots.

I agree. Apple TV is another one. You need to add parental controls to remove all the crap you don't want to see.

People do expect to change the Apple stock stuff, or remove it, but you cannot then they start thinking what other icons they cannot change.

Having said that, I still think iOS is a lot easier to use than any other OS, Windows phone I think, is a more user friendly OS than Android, and Android is the king if you want to play.

It's a shame that Apple doesn't appear to "listen" to it's clients.

If the 5C rumours are to be true then I reckon it'll be the one to bring me back to iPhone. The iPhone 3G and 3GS were definitely more pleasing to hold.

I much prefer the plastic backed or fully plastic phones. Always find my phone sliding outta my pockets and plastic can take the better beatings than the current metal iPhones.

Specs dont particularly bother me so it doesn't need to have all the bells and whistles the 5S will have.

In the past, how long is it after tonight's announcement does the iOS become available for us to download? I got a replacement 5 last night and my iCloud restore is f**ked so going to start fresh but don't want to spend today putting loads of stuff on, if I'll have to start fresh when I install the new iOS.

A redesign of the Apple TV OS would be nice. More of an intuitive navigation would be brilliant. Would be good to have the Apple Store on there, for such things as Plex or XBMC, but not sure how that would work.

5C would be a good phone for companies, who don't need the best device but need something more economical, yet good/easy to use.

If Apple never improves the iPhone, how come the iPhone 5 is vastly superior to the original?

Very true. It's just people being stupid.

Everyone has a go at Apple stuff, no one does about Samsung and other manufacturers.

Some people just like the taste of irony cake. Most of these knob heads put more effort into hating Apple than the Apple fans do into liking them. Almost always the pauper types who love to bore people to death with tales of how much money they saved on an inferior product.

Back on topic, looking forward to the event later.

Personally I think Iphones are Great, was just joking with the memes, I just went for the Note 2 as it's bigger and I use it a lot for entertainment purposes on my travels with work and also for my new emulators / games, something that Iphones annoyed me with tbh, lack of freedom in the name of warranty.

Everything that Iphones do is very good, just need to be more Tinternet friendly and use flash.

I lost auto correct when changing to droid too, this phone is too big to type accurately with one hand it's a pain in the ass.

What time does it kick off later?

According to the internetz >>> "The official Apple keynote will take place on September 10, 2013 in San Francisco. The press conference has a start time of 6PM UK and 10AM PST, or 1PM in New York USA."
