ABS rings replaced today, and rehung exhaust correctly. So tax will go live Monday and she's good to go for the spring. Mint

Andy (Snappy) sorted me a new gear gaiter, oem+ approach again so went alacantra with white stitching and moved the stitch from the front which the stock one had to the rear so you can see it. Next job is the handbrake cover to match.

As the car is currently in daily use I elected to insert the adjusters into the rear spring platforms and raise the ride height around 15-20mm all round. Just to make the car slightly more comfortable and chuckable for the day to day usage.

Also gave her a wipe with a rag and sealed the headlights up with the poshest car care stuff I've ever bought. Recommended by @Dr Jekyll and it's such easy stuff to work with. Will add couple more layers soon.

Not updated this one in ages either, car passed MOT earlier this year with advisory for ARB bushes but I've collected whole genuine OEM suspension refresh setup so that'll go on along with powdercoated subframe etc later in the year.

For now it's SORN and stored in a unit for the year whilst I enjoy the track car for the summer, back out in 2023 I reckon.

OG wheels back on too with new old PS3's

Cars back at home now, been a while since I updated but latest mod installed today, well one of the two anyway

Jon Fossard extra low frames for the Recaros.

Measured before and after and the drivers side now sits 38mm lower than before, perfect!

Also have the suspension refresh to go into the car and aux belt/Aircon service come the spring.

For now car remains SORN but with Cadwell next week, track car still laid up and the daily playing up think I may stick this on the road at the weekend and then use it for the trackday.

Got the passenger frame into the car after a bit of a faff......as in broken stud on the inner rail where it bolts under the car in the exhaust tunnel. s**t design that, and I'd copper greased it and still snapped. Thankfully just scavenged the runner off the original seats and sorted.

Taxed it and went for a spin, running and driving spot on so it'll be on daily duties this week leading up to Cadwell on Thursday.

Awesome day at Cadwell Thursday, car was faultless all day and track dried out by around 11am so semi slicks were a go!

Have right giggle playing about with mate Dan in his 172 cup, wasn't much in it really despite him having fancier suspension and a few more track orientated mods.

Overall wicked day and for a pretty much stock road car the oddy did well

Update, blew the circlip out the gearbox over the Easter weekend couple of months ago and the cars just sat abandoned out the front of my house since.

It was booked in with @MicKPM for a front end suspension refresh, aircon recommission and aux belt service anyway beginning of July, so that's now turned into a gearbox rebuild with renfort bolted diff plate and clutch job on top..... going to be an expensive month!

Gave her a bath as was looking very sorry and didn't want Mick thinking he had a barn find on his hands come Monday

Fitted new drivers side mirror glass as heated element on old one was none functional and refurbished the wipers to make them a little more presentable.

Then nose to nose with the Alfa. Makes you realise just how small the little Clios are!

Aye it's a shame that it's being broken, not many low mileage Ph1's around anymore so you'd think it would be worth the effort to keep it on the road. Unless it's fully rotten through the floor underneath.

back from @MicKPM with Renfort plated diff, rebuilt gearbox, new lower arms (correct early spec genuine Renault phase 1 ones), new aux belt kit, new ARB bushes and clamps for inner and outer and camber bolts. Dialled in 1.5 degree neg up front and tracked it.

drives lovely now and looking forward to the rest of the summer in it

Technically the later revision are 'better' as they increase caster for better handling etc and a lot of owners retro fit as a result. Renault themselves also updated them so the part number for a phase 1 wishbone is technically now the new caster increased ones.

however i wanted to keep the car more standard and factory so opted for the originals

Bit of dampness in the boot, suspect grommets so I'll seal those up, used the blazing sunshine today in the works car park to empty and dry the boot out

Just been cranking the miles recently, cars a dream, few niggles to sort like dash centre display light intermittently going out despite new bulbs and just simple crap like that which is par for the course keeping a 20 plus year old car going.

She does look good

What a view...

Roof has gone a bit flat too, hard to see in pics but it needs a buff, whole car does really.

Paint is the weak point, she's rot free but needs a full hit really.......

First niggle, passenger heater mirror not working, I replaced the driver's not long back and bought both sides from rpd when they were on offer for like 8 quid a piece.

Wiring looked in tact on old glass when I prised it out, so quick check with multimeter make sure was defo glass and not wiring at fault, and plenty of volts so we're fine.

New glass in and done, can see the revised design on the connector too on the newer glass, better weather protection etc

Next niggle, boot has always let in a little water, but it's reached new extremes recently, about 1.5" in there today so decided enough was enough and got the bungs out which were slack as piss so most likely the issue.

Cleaned up and good old tiger seal applied then refitted, hopefully that'll cure it.

Nice sunny day too so sponged out the water and left all the carpets and tool kit/spare to dry. Decided against the Clarkson shotgun drain method.....

Glad you stuck it out chap, and feel the love and throw some at yours. Such a great car, been using mine daily again and recently just looked all bleary eyed at my stereo because retro cool on today's commute.

Recently I've replaced the clock twice as one died completely then the next one the temperature display was goosed and the clock itself just kept advancing a minute every second or so, all sorted now though.

Passed MOT on valentine's day although the hazards worked once then died, so new switch on the way to fix that niggle.

Did oil and filter for the 166k service yesterday and then removed the gopping alcantara steering wheel that Snappy refurbished for me almost exactly 4 years ago now to clean it, it's come up a treat.

Plans are too possibly return to more standard soon, so original spoiler, suspension and seats... Maybe.... Not decided yet.
