Really enjoyed it in the end!

Case was great to work in, everything went smoothly, a genuinely enjoyable build.

Only job left to do is swap out the top fans for some Noctuas I have in the other case, as the ones supplied with this are a little bit louder than I’d like.

NR200? Loads of room for a bigger cooler in there.

Hi chaps!

Ive decided to upgrade my work pc with some more storage, probably a 1TB M.2. It has 1 M.2 slot which is taken up with a 500gb (nowhere near enough).

Would this do the trick to then add another storage stick (technical term)?

Edit - im basically harvey price when it comes to computers....

Should do the job fine. The M.2 drives connect straight to the PCI bus so it's hard to go wrong with a PCI slot adaptor for them as it literally just has to connect the right pins.

Selling some KEF LSX's cheap if anyone's interested for their PC setup

Never understood people not liking RGB, I think it looks awesome
I never really understood why you'd want to look inside your PC any more than I'd want a clear side-panel on my washing machine or a perspex bonnet on my car.

Black Corsair Obsidian 550D sat under the desk out the way. Job done.

And while I'm having a rant....

I'm still toying with a new GPU to replace my 1070 Ti and it's depressing how little the market has moved since September.

FFS the 3070 is now nearly 2.5yrs old and is still £500.

It used to be that new cards coming out would push the prices of the old cards down so you could choose between a cheap older card or an expensive new one. Now the choice is between buying an expensive ancient card or dumping a grand on a new one.

eBuyer had the 6950XT around £750 for most of December, dipping to near £700 just after Xmas. I was hoping it's a sign the price was going to continue a march down.

Now it's £800 :mad::mad:

They are very well stocked for 7900 cards, I wonder if people are snubbing the new cards to buy the previous gen instead.

The 7900 has overheating woes… doesn’t matter if it’s founders or not, it’s getting bad press… they aren’t selling.
Its only a specific batch of "reference/MBA" (7900XTX) cards that are suffering from the vapour chamber issue. Most aftermarket (AIB) cards don't use this cooler so they are fine. AMD have already said that anyone with an affected card should return it to their retailer for an exchange.

This

AMD take it on the chin everytime and sort it rather than dicking about saying it's a non issue or blaming customers

you forgot one HUGE problem…

people only see and read the clickbait, then get on with their life.. they’ll be repeating youtuber video titles it in 20 years never looking to see what the outcome was. I’m personally waiting for “The Untold Truth About The 7900XT” to pop up on YouTube to clear all this mess up.

Im keeping my eyes peeled for a gpu without risking O-ring blow out and amd is still in there..but not at any pricing I’m seeing.

7900XT at £889 is better value than the 6950XT at £800

There lies the problem.

Make the older kit more expensive so people will f**k it off and stump up for the new.
Currently the older AM4 Ryzen 9 processors are £60 more expensive than the new AM5 Ryzen 9 ones  .

LG have a 27" OLED monitor coming out next month it's 1440p 240hz. Tempting for sure even though currently using LG's 4k monitor it still almost feels like it'd be an upgrade. Hard to justify it though and the missus might actually chop my nuts off after the amount I spent on the current setup not even 12 months ago.

I’d imagine burn-in could be an issue if you’re constantly playing the same game.

Also, if you have 4k 120/144hz then I don’t see the point in dropping to 1440p. Unless you’re not utilising the full potential of your current monitor?

Burn in would be my main concern but I feel like these modern OLED screens are pretty good at preventing it these days. Used to game on my OLED TV and never had any issues.

In MW2 I've been using DLSS but Forza Horizon etc I haven't needed to and I will say it looks amazing in 4k but I'm sure it probably looks just as amazing in 1440p if you had the colour sharpness from OLED. Just playing with the idea more than anything interesting to see if anyone else is considering getting one of these smaller OLED monitors that are about now.

Burn in aint an issue now-a-days. Monitors/TVs now have various tools that prevent it.

Though you can help of course by turning on the likes on "auto hide taskbar" and the likes.
