Thinking about returning to a Clio (tunning advice before i buy)

hey guys, right some of you may remember me, meh anyhoo i had a 1.2 clio for my first car 2 years ago and i sold it to 'christian_rea's cousin edd on this forum.

he crashed it while ago still wanting to see pics of it aswell.

righto so basically since then i've bought a civic 1.4 then civic vti coupe which made 160 bhp on the rollers, very very clean and looked after car but now am thinking about selling to buy myself a nice clio 172.

so what's the best way to tune the 2.0 engines?? keeping it naturally aspirated. anyone put cams on thiers??? best way to mod the engine? i'm a mechanic and dont have a problem fitting stuff etc myself so it's all good.

only thing is i'm 19 and just coming up for my 2nd years ncb so not sure how insurance is going to be but damn i want a clio again as they handled amazing!

(here's my civic that i own just now)

any help appreciated. many thanks

jonny

have a look at ktec racing mate, there are numerous options. Exhaust, decat, IK can see good gains and good driveability and noise.

Bets say how much ££ you have and skills as tunning depends on that.

plus do you want to go turbo or another engine in it ?

Nice Coupe. 160bhp you say? B16 motor?

As for the Clio, i'd only recommend you go so far... it gets into silly money for not much gain after that.

Exhaust
Decat
Sealed IK
Matched inlets
Remap

That'll see a comfortable 190bhp. And i'd leave it there. The routes after than are to stay N/A using a larger TB or even ITB's... or to go for some forced induction. Turbo/Supercharger conversions are very pricey though, and never 100% reliable, despite what the companies tell you.

If you want to make it any quicker i'd start to strip it then, you'll see better gains from that.

yeh mate it's the b16 motor and i have a perfect engine in mine it's not been thrashed etc so it still gives good figures.

i'm still needing to sell the civic as i have a clio 172 now lined up with a deposit handed in.

thanks the coupe is a nice motor everyone says it and i do think so myself however i just fancy a change and come back to clio!

will kep every1 updated.

cams tho? no one got aftermarket ones and christoper i have what you've listed on my plan list for my 172.

cheers
jonny.
