I tried claying for the first time today. Went quite well. This is of no help to you though.

Not sure what you've done, but if the paints rough, get it clayed. Megs clay kit is a good start, costs about £25 and has everything you need in it.

Polish on plastic is a pain to remove, I've got a special sponge that does the job, but other people use things like autoglym fast glass, or pencil rubbers.

well ive a feeling it needs a clay but i dont fancy trying it

I was the same. I started on small areas like the wing mirrors until I was confident. After that it's a piece of piss to do. It was the megs kit I used as well.

Thanks for the tip may have to look at Clay

I tell you what I was impressed with ag viynl an rubber care the dash an engine bay came up a treat with it

The only other idea I had was tape all the trim before I polish the body work when it's dressed it looks a bit naff an uneven

Maybe I need some tution

the auto glym stuff will only mask it for a few days till it washes off. there are only a few things ive tried that shifts it and it varies doem car to car, one is to put a wee bit of what ever polish it is ona tooth e brush and go at the dried in stuff like a bugger then scrubb with a micro fiber, some say use a pencil eraser- this has never worked for me though, tardit is good if used sparingly, and worse case sinario a heat gun brings back the colour in seconds but you need to watch that it can look pretty blotchy.

but as with any thign prevention is better than a cure, so next time tape it up ot take off what you can.

Not sure how rubbing more polish into the area is going to help . . . ?!

To remove the polish stains, use either WD40 or Linseed oil. Both require a serious amount of rubbing/hard work, but they are the only ones that I find work. Although peanut butter is meant to have the same affect, I have never trialled it.

how strong a shampoo mix would i need to remove the clouded wax residue its horrific :dead:

what sort of plan would i need to attack the lower sills shampoo an foaming has had little effect is their such a thing as a safe dg that will help sofen it and the tar

as it seems im in capable of using XXX Hardcore Paste Wax correctly the first attempt wasn't the best irc what else could i consider

Most shampoos are designed not to strip wax. If you have issues with waxes/sealents, use something like Chem Guys Citrus Wash as this will strip the wax off, leaving you with a clean surface to start again.

Eax wise, R222 is perfectly acceptable, as is Natty's Blue. Depends on budget. Super Natural is excellent, etc etc.

if i get another day i will give it another go over an take my time

im guessing when i apply the wax i only need a little bit on the pad anymore tips on useing a wax ?

Thin thin layers are where it's at. And don't leave the wax too long to cure etc. Most react better if left for ten to fifteen mins before removal, unlike sealants.

Just found a way to remove the polish from the trim. Thought about it a while ago after seeing the JML magic eraser being advertised, but was a bit too expensive to try just from an idea, but saw the same thign as busy bear sponge eraser in the £1 shop today for 3. Rub over the trim and all the polish is removed, perfect.
Might go back and get more in case they stop selling them as 33p each is a bargain
