stupidity and people not knowing what they're doing is the main issue

i had my new rb 182 2 months ago and it says on the recipes that it was done 5 months ago i took my top mount off and i can see the dephraser pully is brand new and the belt .There is no timing marks so im guessing its been done by locking tools and its had new cam caps were the locking tool goes but does this mean it can still off be done wrong cause i dont want my engine breaking

depends who did it? If it was a main dealer or one of the specialists then you should be fine

plus you CANNOT replace the dephaser without the tools, 10000000% impossible

In case i am missing somthing obvious here all people have done throughout this thread is offer you advice and these people know what they are on about, the specialists know these cars inside out much better in fact than your mate who works at VW. Im going to echo what everyone else has said and say please get your timing checked by a professional its not worth a rebuild and i certanly wouldnt trust a VW mechanic to check the timing on my 182 id be straight on the phone to a specialst booking my car in for a timing check asap.

Also you keep going on about paying for a new belt all anyone has advised on here is to get it checked which will cost around £67 using freds quatation surely its worth that for peace of mind and if shock horror the belts are timed incorrectly then you will just have to cough up and get the job done properly. Its also worrying me that you keep going on about just the timimg belt the car should have had BOTH the full aux/cambelt kit fitted inc all tensioners have you got proof of this being done (thought not) or are you just going to keep on being ignorant and carry on ignoring advice from the specialists!?

LISTEN to the advice being given FFS.

I'm going to start taking bets on how long it is before the 'My cambelt has just snapped' thread appears.

advice was to get it checked and i did i can do timing it not that hard and as for my mate at vw he will now more than u will ever now .so who are u to bad mouth him?????? as for my mates car u all say if it down on power.( timing is out!) if it fast than my friend 172 .(timing is out)! if it does not cut out (timing is out )!cos its faster than my mates (timing is out)cos theres no lumpy tick over (timing is out) !... no people on here have also said to get the belt changed as well and as my mate as done his belts twice on his 182 and he works for vw he is a specialist i then for vw witch is more than u :p as for the aux belt kit yes i do have paper work for it i was not on about that i just ask about the timing iv had i check buy a specialist for free and it fine so would of wasted 67 pound for nothing

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this thread. 6 pages of someone asking for advice then sticking their fingers in their ears and going "LA LA LA LA LA". Awesome.
