Too fast....

Your opinions, please, following a Lexus IS 200 yesterday going too fast, (I know it's wrong) but safely i.e. indicating etc, eventually he pulled in and I went past. I then got behind a BMW who refused to pull over, at which point the Lexus came up beside me and flashed his warrant card at me and gestured to leave a bigger space between me and the BMW. My jaw dropped and i and mouthed "sorry" and which he nodded his head. I then pulled over to the inside lane. He came past me later, and again smiled and nodded hid head. I think i saw a Tom-Tom type thing on the dash but is that the sort of thing the police have on the dash or would it be a bigger camera? Plus he was on his own.....

Was this on the M4? A freind mentioned they have an umarked Lexus IS 200 around the swindon parts of the m/way last weekend

If it was unmarked, he would have pulled you. Sounds like a Bobby in his own car telling you to behave by flashing his badge. Hope it worked

He'd have to pull you if he was going to do you. He'll have just been telling you to slow down or whatever... I've had this before a couple of years ago on the M60. An Escort pulled out in front of me on a merging slip road and I had little option but to drop it and boot it over the white lined bits getting upto over a ton in doing so... had little choice, cop saw this, slowed me down to 40 then had a brief conversation saying technically I did the right and only thing, but could have done it a touch slower ... f**k it though, I'd have liked to know how quick he was going to catch up to us in the first place had he wanted to f**k me over, as he didn't have lights on etc... lucky I guess that he was cool as f**k about the whole thing... :D

cheers people, feeling a bit better now......

what 'av i leart......to behave on the public roads and keep the fast speeds for the track.......very sorry.......

on the m25 2 weeks ago i saws a couple of undercovers in an evo, they had pulled over a civic or something.

f**k that, go as fast as you want, just be wary of who's about and other road users... at 3am I have no hang ups of guilt doing over a ton though if conditions are good.

i was doing 120mph in my Corvette on the way home form York and a green Audi RS4 came up behind me flashing the lights like he wanted me to move out of the way, so i gunned it all the way up to 165 and pulled quite a distance on him. I slowed down to about a ton once i had left him and he eventually caught up - he then switched his siren on and his flashing blue lights which were concealed behind his grille - i absolutely sh*t myself and indicated to pull over onto the hard shoulder. As i did he over took me moving his hand up and down in the highway code gesture as to slow down - it was a f**king paramedic the b*****d !!!! needless to say i had learnt a lesson and didnt speed after that for at least 10 minutes ( of course this wasnt on a public road in this world - it was in a parellel dimension similar to our own universe - that will keep the do-gooders quite )

The car........

true, my mate was going down a 30 road nearby and basically there's no way this road is a 30 road, more like 50 as it's wide and f**k all on it... but, doing 35mph, copper runs out into the middle of the road, he slams on thinking what the f**k, have i murdered someone? gets done for £60 there and then and 3 points... coppers were all waiting behind a bush with a gun. To be fair most are okay, but it only takes a few t***s and they are all tarnished with the same brush... rightly so :rasp:

Been told off by a cop on a biker too coming back from GDI with clean16v in the car... cop was up my arse being a t**t, so I left him for dead at some lights doing a right turn, but only gave it any in first noticing the badges as he comes round the corner behind me... oops... again, he just pulled along the side of me and politely asked me to slow down... yeah, no problem I said... had he pulled me he would have got a load of verbal tbh, I wasn't breaking the law and I think he knew that, but it's the attitude that sucks.

"son, did you know how fast you were going back there?"

"nope, but you should seeing how you were that far up my arse you could smell my breath!"

yeah i was driving home from my missus's at 1 am one work night in my old ax gt and saw that the lights in the distance were green so basically floored it so i'd make the lights got up to about 70 and before i had chance to slow down noticed a load of coppers on the corner near the lights - didnt help that i had a k&n filter and peco back box which amplified everything - all of their heads turned at the same time and then two of wm got in an astra and followed me and pulled me (by which time i was doing 30mph) - then the bloody squad volvo pulled up and asked em if they needed any help!

Got asked the usual questions, whats the speed limit etc (was a 30) - told em i was doing 50ish - luckily just got let off with a telling off, they were even havin a joke with me

Isnt the IS200 a bit slow for police work. Surly they would use the IS300 if at all?

Had an IS200 sport as a company car 5/6 years ago, great car all the gadgets, great stereo, entertaining handling (LSDin the sport) engine made all the right engine noises but very very poor performance and awful mpg (23 average) from a 2.0....... But for the money at the time they were a bargin..

Well I got done for 35 in a 30 zone the other week. I was going that slow I didnt even think to look at the speedo when they were gunning me. That was the second time within a week. Plus I got done both times for a misrepresented number plate at the same time. 6 points and £180 fines in one week!
In summary, Traffic cops are penises

was it on the Detling Hill bit of the A249? Easily done I know but that's quite a dangerous road to speed on as it has a number of junctions.

I nearly killed myself on the junction back to M2 east bound (the one that goes 360 degrees full circle). Was tired and tried to gun it past a white van man but underestimated how much room I had left and felt like I went round the junction on 3 wheels.

I quite clearly annoyed the guy in the van who quite impressively tail-gated me all the way round in a transit!

They give you a lecture about going to fast, but he must have been going well over 130 to catch me! :D was bloody fun though.

That was an RS Octavia Cop car, and i got pulled for overtaking, because overtaking is illegal apparently, t**t!

Ok.

So,

You are a Chief Constable.

You have been set targets by our democraticaly elected government on reducing crime. Statistics is whats important.

So, what is the easiest way of massaging the figures? Speeding tickets.

Plain and simple.

You NEVER admit guilt!, you always calim you werent speeding , i got away with 75 in a 30, he said..

"Are you aware how fast you were going"

"I said yeah i was doing about 32mph"

He was like...

"I think you were going abit faster than that werent you"

I said...

"Not really no, i was doing about 32-33mph"

He couldnt do me because he hadnt been following me and was on his own.

I pulled out of a junction near me recently at about 11.30 at night so all nice and quiet. I didn't even think about it but I ended up doing about 45mph for about 5 seconds on a clear stretch of straight road before I had to slow down and turn into another junction before my street, all the time with a police Astra behind me. I set off as normal again doing about 35mph before turning into my street. As my house is the first on the right and the drive runs onto the main road you can drive right up from the main road. The copper saw me indicate and went to follow me up the street not realising I was going up my drive, he mirrored my road position, ended up swerving and clipping the kerb. Needless to say he didn't hang about.

Criminals want the fast cars and the police have to keep up. Nice and reliable too.
You'll find many traffic cops are petrol-heads just like you and I, so no doubt the prospect of one day being paid to drive a high-performance vehicle all day quite attractive. A good thing for a short-staffed police force.

  Mondeo STTDCI
Lol not EVERY police car is a good one.

Out on shift we have poxy Focus estate diesals and they are horrible.

Its traffic that have something decent, T5s, Mondeo STs and the odd, and I mean odd, Evo.

But at the end of the day they need them. I've seen lots of chases lost because of the vehicles we have. A souped up Astra lost us the other day, and I've seen a rung Seat Leon Cupra R do some stupid things at stupid speeds to get away. The scroats seem to have learnt to get faster cars.

It's all BMW 5 Series and Merc C320 Traffic cars in Strathclyde.

I've managed to go out on patrol with them once or twice, sitting in the back (through my job). The thinking behind the flash cars is the reliability and quality should mean less money spent on repairs in the long run. When they have to drive them hard, very little thought is given to the car... it's just expected to perform time after time.

to JBarber....no, not Detling Hill, as you say that is a dangerous road , always very slippy cos of all the trees. We were both (me and IS200) very sensible on there, it was mainly on the M20 near Maidstone where you get 4 lanes...

I had a chat with one of the Strathclyde Police traffic cops who drives a supercharged c class, he told me it got 7or 8 mpg sometimes!!! lol cost effective?! I dont think so must be heavy with extra equipment it carries.

I had i similar incident a couple of nights ago, coming into cardiff off a motorway sliproad a volvo with one man in was going about 30, so i overtook then he flashed his lights at me a few times. Didnt think much of it untill he pulled up next to me at the traffic lights when i looked at him and saw him in police uniform!! He then followed me right to my house about 3 miles away, he got infront at one point and even waited for me to pass and then carried on behind. Luckily i lost him, but i think he was waiting for me to do anything wrong, i also didnt have a headlamp working at the time. The ammount of undercover cops these days is frightening, you could get caught anywhere at any time!
