Top Mounts

Guys,

Need your help! If on full lock, turning right, i get a creaking sound. Also, the car judders, as if the tyres are skipping across the tarmac, also when at full lock. The inside of my tyres are pretty much thru to the wire/canvas even tho the car doesnt pull to either side?? So tracking might be okay unless both sides are out and pointing outwards i guess?

Also Ive attached a couple of pics of my top mounts for you to have a look at? Is this normal or is something buggered?

either get some washeres that are made to cure this or buy solid top mounts

Slipping when turning, I had this, and it was 99% fixed by getting my tracking setup properly, not the likes of ATS/KwikShit, i had it done at Demon Tweeks.

Also, as said the top mount washers will help you out also. This problem only seems to occur on 182's running 205 tyres rather than the 172s running 195s.

i have just replaced the topmounts on my 172 as they were utterly fucked. one of the main problems i could feel was that when on full lock turning into the drive the wheel would skip across. fitted the solid topmounts and fully fixed. i wouldnt bother messing around with the washer fix as i tried that

where did you get the top mounts fitted and setup mark?

marksport fitted them - which would be mrwhite86 and myself in his garage lol

not had the setup done yet, as still need to sort a few bits before it goes

Cheers guys, Ive ordered two new front tyres. Ill get the tracking checked and set if need be.
If that doesnt cure it ill go for the solid top mounts. How much do these cost roughtly just out of interest?

or get some ast top mounts for uber adjustability from powerstation

think they can make them fit std suspension

The top mounts are embarrassingly cheap, nasty and poor bits of kit as standard. I'm amazed that they ever passed the design stage, imo.

Get the AST topmounts they solved all my problems i had with the front end. Before them i tried the comp brake 1s and imo they where pretty poo lol
