topping up oil?

Only had the car for a couple of weeks (172) and not sure if at last service it had fully or semi-synthetic oil changed.

I presume that it will need topping up regularly between oil changes but not sure if ok to top up with fully synthetic. Will it do any damage if the 2 grades are mixed is what I suppose I'm asking.

Also, how much/often (on average) do you top up your oil?

Never topped mine up in 13,000 miles i've had it. Says in the handbook what oil you need.

Only needs topping it up if it isn't full.


Some engine burn oil other don't usualy the quickest ones don't burn oil.

5-40 or 10-40 (doesn't mater) is what you want

Check your dipstick, only top it up if you need to. Mine never needs topping up between the 8000miles that I change it.

I've never had to top the oil up in my mk2 172.

I take spare oil just in case.

mixing will be fine mate,just keep any eye on the dipstick,some use oil some dont,as long as ur not topping up every week then dont worry
