Torrents topping out

Can anyone explain to me why my torrents top out at around 55kbs on my NTL 2mb connection? I can download files off the web at 220, just Bitlord wont go above 55. I've forwarded the port, but still no luck
Any ideas?

make sure that you have more sources than leechers

use utorrent or bit comet, they are by far the best clients, could be worse mate, you could be throttled to 20k/sec like me

You sure your getting the full 2mb ?? Do a speed test .

Maybe try a different client like bittornado

change the port you are using - it may be being throttled

^^ good advice. made mine about 8 times faster than i was getting originally!

Check that you arent maxing out your upload speed, you need a certain amount of upload speed to send back the ACK packets.. if it cant do that clients wont know to send you a new packet of data.
