Towing hook/hoop where from?

Picked up my 182 last night, probably going to be spending a fair amount on it over the next 6 month.

First thing is to get a towing hook or hoop or whatever they are called for the front? Taking it to Bedford on the 12th March if anyone else wants to join.

Planning on sourcing a decent induction kit before then too if anyone can point me in the right direction? The best tuning and parts websites?

Ill get some pics up soon when I give her a little clean. But she feels great to drive!

Cheers, Martin

You can get a great quality OMP one off eBay for a great price and would be with you in the next few days.

this one is a great CS owners choice plus of you don't want it yellow you can change it by using a paint stripper.

Or you can get any type off there.

As for the induction kit i would personally as you have a 182 go for a BMC induction kit, big bucks but sound the business

Hope this helped.

Thanks Ken, just what I was after, I quite like yellow actually. How easy is it to fit, as simple as bolt on and play or do I have to make a hole somewhere?

I'm not overly fussed about the sound, more about the improved air flow, are the BMC ones still good in this area?

Cotball, I cant view your link Im afraid :s

Thanks

Avoid expensive aftermarket induction kits. Waste of money.

Spend the money on better brakes, suspension upgrades and petrol. The engine is already as good as it's going to get without spending BIG money.

If you have to get an induction kit, get either a Ph1 172 airbox of Espace V6 box.

Is it worth being a member? Am I actually going to see that money back in savings from websites? Im not really interested in stickers lol

Why do you say this budgie? I thought I read somewhere that the 182 air box was very restrictive???

Even though Ive got the cup suspension, you reckon this will no be useful enough on a track? I was going to be looking at brakes and suspension upgrades at a later date etc

Membership is well worth it- decent for sale sections, guides to tell you how to do everything, traders sections, local meets (where you from in Surrey?) and discounts with certain companies..

Nope- you have to spend at least £500 before you see any noticeable gains, and even then it's not much for the money. You might see 10bhp from a remap (£150), matched inlets (£150), V6 airbox (£80) and a decat (£50). To get 200bhp, you'll want ITB's (circa £1500). Also, it's worth noting that most standard 182's will only be putting out about 165-170bhp. Renault's stated figures are a bit optimistic.

Standard suspension is fine on track if you're just out to have a laugh, but if you want to be pushing around much bigger machinery, you'll want a set of coilovers (not just cheap ones either, spend £500 or so and get something half decent.)

Basically everything Budgie said. And yes, membership is well worth it.

I have spent about £4k on mine since last April, slowly but surely getting it more track focused. Started with brakes, then suspension (Bilstein Coilovers), just done Cams and induction, now onto ITBs. I'll finish with interior / roll cage etc. By the time its all done, i'll probably see little to no change from £7k not including the price of the car (I am a r****d with a spanner, which doesn't help), and even then it won't be a 'hardened' track criminal like some of the ones on here.

Depends how serious you are about using it on a track and how long you are planning on keeping it. I want to do alot more 'serious' track time over a reasonably long period of time (next 3 to 4 years) and am building the car against that aim, hence the investment. If you want some track fun, not very often, I wouldn't bother doing much to the Cup at all, and just go out and chuck it about! Only thing I would do is some tuition to get the best out of it, and improve your driving / track capabilities.

Ok cool thanks!! Croydon by the way.

I see what you mean by a lot of work for nothing, but I didn't buy the car to get HP gains, I just want it to be a laugh around a track, I was thinking, brakes and suspension to improve handling, then maybe strip out the back seats and put in a cage with rear strut.

And when the exhaust or cat go get an aftermarket one which I believe are similar price to OEM anyway but better.

But I'll also be using the car as a potential run about too. I've got another car for luxary and special occasions. So yeah the sport is mainly for track laughs and giggles, and running around etc

Ill look to become a member asap then cheers.

I can send you some pictures of the towing eyes layer when I'm back from work, £12 each posted and made from stainless steel so they don't rust :)

They are not coloured, but they come in a slightly polished metal look , very easy to fit all you do is screw it into the original tow eye thread.

Cool, Didn't even know there was a tow eye thread haha, first ever clio and first ever tow eye fitted!

When you get a chance mate, could you email me some pics please? I'll PM you my email

Cheers
