trip computer on 172

i have just bought a 172 on a 52 plate it has the xeonons and climate controle etc but when i press the button on the stalk my trip computer dosent work, i took it back to the garage and they changed the stalk and still no joy, they said that some models dont have one but i thought if it had climate control, xenons ans half leather it was the 172 ff. is this right should i have a trip of not,

There were a few cars on a 52 plate that were fitted with the wrong dials which along with being sans trip computer, only have a 7k rev counter and speedo up to 140mph. Also don't have the silver surround and red needles.

my trip was working till i needed to disconnect the battery now i cant reset it , i can toggle from each setting but thats it , there not working .

Mines on a 52 plate and i have the same dials as above ??
does that matter :S

my dials only go to 140 and rev to 7250. dos that mean performance will be different too.
or just wrong dials.

Performance will be the same, Renault had a shortage of 2.0 dials I think at some point so they bodged a few with the lower spec dials rather than stopping production.

Bit odd though allowing it, as the limiter kicks in at 7250rpm on the 2.0 engines and I think the lower specs stop at 7000rpm. Well my g/f's dynamique does anyway.

Tey doing the reset code thingy....... make your dash dance and reset it....it might help.... i cant remember the processs

i would also like to reset my clocks so that my trip counter would work it displays miles i have done but nothing else . when i got the car i did notice onr day when me and my wife was out in it that it showed mpg i think . but now it dont work . can it be reset if so how do u do it

ok thanks everyone for your help.

You could get hold of a set of proper RS clocks and swap them over, not guarantee but it shuold give you the trip computer as long as you have the button the end of the stalk. The only expense would be getting the miliage corrected to match the old clocks.

Won't help you, you have the wrong dials. Changing them for proper ones should give you the trip computer. ^ That was aimed at ben.

just spoke to renault and they said they wernt aware of wrong dash in 2002 sport models and its £412 for a new one, i suppose i will just have to live without,

Under warrenty maybe, no change no i'd have thought. I know i'd have rejected the car at collection if it'd have the wrong dials in. Its not as it they look anything like the proper ones which always makes me wonder how they got away without lots of people returning the cars.
