Trophy Prices....

  PH1 V6
Hi all,

Have been keeping an eye on the value of Trophy's over the past year or so and it seems they have suddenly become great value for money, having dropped a little in price within a short period of time. Whilst no one will be able to give an accurate answer, what are peoples thoughts on whether they will drop in value alot more over the next year or so?

Seems a tidy example can be picked up for 5k now with FSH and relitively low mileage (around 60k). I'm sure that only 12/18 months ago prices were nearer to 7k for one of these.

I am getting tempted having never had a Trophy before. Have owned a 172 phase 1, 172 cup, 182 and a PH1 V6. Is there any noticable difference other than the fancy Recaro's?

Thoughts?

I hope they don't drop any further, lol. Mine will be for sale soon, still no idea what to value it at as prices seem to be all over the place with them atm.

The main difference is the front dampers. Most will have been refurbed by a specialist (BG Motorsport) by now, try to look for one that has been otherwise it can be a pricey job.

Interesting, your not far from me either! lol.

Dampers are something I would always look out for, together with belts etc etc. Some tidy examples available at the moment for what look like decent prices!

I pick #050 up on saturday - can't wait. 68k, belts done, taxed and mot'd for 10 months - £3500. Yeah it needs a damper rebuild but its still a billy bargain.

Funny how whenever anyone actually goes to view a bargain Trophy (or frankly, a good number of Trophys) as per the recent thread on ClioTrophy.net, they often turn out to be a bit ropey.
They are at that age now where they are well used and there are a lot of rough round the edges examples.
As always, there will be the odd bargain about but finding good ones is getting ever more difficult. Pictures in adverts mean nothing.

Yep there is about 3 for sale on the first page of Pistonheads!

I think I bought mine at the right time and at a very good price - Seems they are creeping up again for cars that aint no where near as good condition as mine own.

Yeah, he only had it for about 3 weeks, and that was 3 years ago. The past 2 owners sound like they've looked after it tbh.

Im assuming you're the 9th owner now? Ex-owner was Kam2Turbo iirc. Been razin dem mandemz in dat car innit blud.

Good luck.

I went to view a 182 he was selling last week, it was alright bit ropey round edges but half decent history but he himself didn't seen to know a great deal about motors. I've just brought a trophy instead now

Yeah he asked me if I was on here funnily enough an I replied yes also on the trophy forum too, I asked him his user name an he went quiet :s

I can only Imagine what mines really worth.

I'll be really interested to see what you put yours up for Luke, and what it sells for.

I think a combination of, tax, insurance, cost of petrol and the fact they're 7 years old is not helping the sale/value of these cars.

I think the prices have just come down to what they are actually worth, rather than a bargain (of course they are great value in terms of the actual car itself compared to others). The ones that were on sale for £7k+ 18 months ago where mostly unsold and hung around for ages. Its the same with all cars in the end, the minute a mint one is posted up for £7k+ by a dealer, suddenly everyone thinks all trophies are £7k.

Clios have nice residuals, but i still think 197s are overpriced for example.

There is a Black 182 on here with Trophy dampers and seats in better nick that 50% of the Trophies on sale!

Utterly shocking some of them. I looked at one before buying the Frp then realised i'd be paying insurance of an 18 year old charver! Mental!

Flol! 182 Charver owners more like. 3 times as much as my 3.2 to insure... f**k off eh! Honestly it's mental

I love those little cars but my got their owners have driven insurance prices up big time and I can insure a lot for minimal cost.
