Trophy Update

Thought i would put all the work and pictures into one Topic and as the car has been off the road for weeks and it has had a lot of issues sorted over the past 2/3 months.

It was firstly sent away to Pro Tek (Bodyshop) to get the roof fixed after the original job was done badly.

Going back 4 years ago i was working in town and when finishing work at around 4am i came out to find that someone had smashed a wine bottle on the roof of the car. The car was then went to get the roof fully repaired but it turned out to be a bad repair.

The car was then sent to SWR in stirling who are Renault Specialists and who have looked after the car since i have owned it.
I had a bad knocking from my suspension so after it turning out to be the AST top mounts i bought new bearings for them.
Turns out the bearings are seized in the top mount and i can't get the new ones to fit until i get the old ones out so i bought new OE reanult top mounts with spacing washer and got them fitted.

As you can see here is the black part of the AST bearing that is seized so i can't get the old bearing out.

Next up was my exhaust that was really annoying me, The car has got the MK1 yozza sport CAT back system and one i bought the car the exhaust was sitting under the rear bumper as pictured.

I then got it sorted a few years ago but then after fitting new mounts it was now sticking out far too much as once again pictured.

So knowing that one of the guys at SWR in stirling can wield with MIG & TIG and is sh*t hot at it i got them to sort my exhaust and stop it sticking out too much.
These are not the best pictures but the tail pipes now sit perfectly flush with the back bumper.

Next up was to get the Brembo calipers fitted.
I got these refurbished and powder coated in Red, Then up was to buy the parts needed which i got really cheap and only paid £16+vat for the front brembo pads and £6+vat for the fitting kit.

Went for 300mm grooved discs and the Pure Motorsport brackets.

When fitting these the Prima Racing wheels would not go over the calipers due to the wheel itself so i went back to the speedliness.

Here is the lip where the brembos can't go over.

Here is the discs and calipers on the car.

And the speedline back on.

There has been a lot of discussion about the pads not meeting the full surface of the discs but as its been said it's because there's more swept area available on the 300mm scenic discs and the 197 pads aren't deep enough basically. Makes them look odd.

It has nothing to do with the caliper being mounted wrong or the brackets etc - that's just how they look on 300mm opposed to the 280's.

I have also done a swap with the Prima Racing alloys for these.

Also waiting on this coming back from @snappy as he is doing a refurb on it for me but he has sent me these two pictures of the work in progress.

Coming along nicely, although when you get this ocd you will never be happy untill the entire car including every nut and bolt is replaced.

Small update on the brembos.

As it has been said the 197/200 Pad dies not fill the 300mm disc so there was a "rusty ring" round the inside of the disc.
tonight before nipping along to the local scottish meet i decided to sort this out and give the calipers a quick clean.
All i had laying about was some dodo juice lime prime polish and then some anglewax alloy wheel wax so used that.

The Brembo's look great! really smart now!
Painting up the parts where the pad doesn't go is a neat touch, I did the same a while back (even went overkill & painted up the edges of the discs when they were new)

That guy is a f**king magician with steering wheels. You need to get a sabelt! Then again you don't drive it so it's fine. ;)

Took the trophy turini's off the car as i was not too happy running 20mm spacers with long wheel bolts.

Managed to get a stunning set of 172 Cup turini's that i done a straight swap with my prima racing alloys, than picked up Uniroyal Rainspout 3's with 8/7mm on them for £100 so got them fitted.
The cup wheels have been powder coated and are much darker than the standard Trophy wheels.

I have those calipers on 321mm discs and the pads cover the full braking surface so something doesn't look rite with yours. Do you have any pics of the front of the calliper showing the pads ?

did I see that right, you waxed your brake discs?

No i polished the caliper and then waxed it.

As it has been said the 197/200 Pad does not fill the 300mm disc so there was a "rusty ring" round the inside of the disc.
@NorthloopCup will back this up also.

The brake pad swept area on the Meg/197 brembos are smaller than the available swept area on the scenic 300mm discs.
I'm not aware of any pads that are deep enough to cover the entire disc face, but happy to be proven wrong.

This is one of the reasons I'm going for a separate rotor and bell setup.

I'm just saying my pads catch on my whole 321mm disc. Your calliper looks like it's sticking out to much on the bottom

As @NorthloopCup has said it will surly depend on what brembos or brackets you have bought along with size of disc also ?

I went for the PMS ones at £210 and everything fits perfectly so i fail to see how it can be fitting wrong.

Personally I'd paint a high temperature black paint around the inside of the disc. That way it won't get rusty! It'll soon wear off any excess paint when you use them and look neat.
