Trying to save a £300 172 cup

Hi everyone so my mechanic buddy called me to say he had something I might like he knows I'm a petrol head so he thought the 172 cup would be a good project

The customer want 5/600 at first but in the end I got it for 300 quid and all I knew is that it drives and stops

So when I got to see it I was told its been parked up for 4 years in a barn

I've decided if I'm going to fix it up I want it stock as all my cars end up modified the cars rough but I think its worth trying to save rather than breaking it it has 83k on the clock but sadly not much paperwork no history but what do you expect for 300 quid nowdays

So far all I've done is clean it shampoo the seats and carpet as it's had something living in the car

Tomorrow I've got most of the day to strip some the front end down so I'll update again after

It's rough it has panel damage but I've tracked a 172 being broken locally so I'm collecting some panels next week and a few odds and sods

I'm just glad clio parts are cheap I can do alot of work myself just a shame I can't do the cam belt

Brakes
Cam belt and bits
Servicing
Some paint
Alloys
So all in all its not going to be a 300 quid car in the end [emoji23]

Tbf.. That pile of crap under the scuttle is about twice as much as i found in my car the other day.. i feel that it was probably not that far off before a squatter moved in. Ready made French Chateau..

Oh just a thought.. You might want to take the drivers wheel arch liner down and have a look in there for more of that crap cause that will most probably been his/her front door..

I've been after a little resto project for a while now I've been looking for a car that was going to be a future classic so this was perfect for me

As a Renault newbie the 172 cup was the ideal car now I find out they made a trophy [emoji23]

Tbf.. That pile of crap under the scuttle is about twice as much as i found in my car the other day.. i feel that it was probably not that far off before a squatter moved in. Ready made French Chateau..

Oh just a thought.. You might want to take the drivers wheel arch liner down and have a look in there for more of that crap cause that will most probably been his/her front door..

I bought a £1500 cup about 2 years ago. Not too dissimilar condition.
I’ve spent £2k on it so far and all that’s left to do now is a front end respray. And that doesn’t include the parts I had already waiting in the garage. Will owe me £4K once finished.

They’re not cheap to do!
But I will have a totally original Unmodified 172 Cup with less than 100k on it.
A definite keeper.

Nope stage 3 which is hybrid turbo full custom map is 1000 pound and Apr dsg gearbox map is 800 quid [emoji15] it's now running 450bhp it's an epic daily

But everything is mad expensive a Racingline induction kit is 350 the catch an was about the same the cat back exhaust is about a grand

Its the proper Mondial blue for the car.. i had loads of cans mixed up to do my interior..
