Two serious problems in such a short space of time? (pricing opinion too)

  Yaris
Own a 1.2 16v 3dr Dynamique Clio 2003 Model. Bought it 3rd hand in Feb this year with just short of 43,000 miles on the clock from a private owner. About three months ago the throttle body needed replaced because it had an electrical fault. sorted.

Now I hear that it needs a new head gasket! Very surprised about it breaking (£300 all inc getting the head skimmed). Such a new car and two expensive repairs having done on it. (is £300 a gd price? Rents are saying should have tried a different garage who they've used for years, but I prefer the one my mate works at)

Has anyone else had similar problems? Just hoping it was a good choice to get a Clio as my first car and in the first 5 months having two big repairs done to it.

Won't need a head gasget doing they're very good why do you think it needs doing the 1.2 suffers from mayo under the oil cap its just shows they need longer drives not a blown head gasget.

Sorry should have said it was leaking, Oil over the engine, little puddles of it, and splashed under the bonnet and seams.

Check the plastic rocker cover, it happened to mine ages ago - The cover was over tightened after a throttle body change the plastic cracked causing oil to spray all over the engine bay.
