tyre sizes

Hi,

Got a standard Mk. 2 172 on a 02 plate. Blew a tyre up last night, and the fronts are overdue renewal anyway.

What size tyres do I need, as i'm going to order them from mytyres.com today???

Yes, I should know, but the car is parked miles away and I can't be bothered to walk.

Please help!!

make sure that the tyre is at least V rated as well as thats the speed rating suitable for up to 140mph or something around there

Yep , definitely 195/45 /16 V , rated up to 149mph .

you can get away with 205/45/16, although the 195/45/16's are a bit cheaper.. -

Like thedoc says .You can get away with 205/45/16's which would give you slightly better grip , if you did go for this size of tyre your speedo would read slightly over i.e when your doing 70mph you'll actually be doing 71 mph which is fcuk all as speedos actually read around 1 - 1.5 % over your actual speed anyway .
