PS3 are fine for winter in terms of them being an all season tyre. They'll obviously never stand up to the likes of a dedicated winter tyre though.
I've found the higher (W rated I think) to be he better choice.
I miss PE2 😧
If the PS3s are like the Primacy 3s they will be useless when it snows since their tread pattern (which looks awfully similar on the PS3) are a block pattern and made for other things in mind. PS3s like most performance tyres are a summer tyre.
What are your requirements? Price / noise / wet grip / dry grip / grip in cold conditions / longevity / feel / etc.
You can't have everything, tyres are a compromise so name your most important two attributes.
Never a truer word spoken. I have had budget tyres which have been surprisingly good in the snow but OK in the dry and awful in the wet!
That's perfect was just worried they would be awful I'm the winter, I may look into a tyre that is slight more aimed at winter weather though.
Not worried about price, just would like the best I could buy as it's such an important part of the car, just unsure on what the top sort of tyres for a trophy this time of year are? And if the PS3 could be used or would it just be better to get proper winter tyres?
How much will you drive in winter and when (i.e what time) will you drive at? IMO they are only really worth it if the car is a daily driver.
That said, the PS3s are pretty good everywhere bar snow. It's the only tyre which has stumped me (and friends thinking they could do better with my car) in the snow when trying to go up a hill. But I guess that is the is price to pay for a tyre which does not wear that badly at all, grip well in almost all conditions.
