Tyres wearing fast!!!

  Clio
Hi guys not sure if this is in the right section but here goes...I bought a 172 cup for track days only, it was already fitted with sportline spings with standard dampers so I fitted camber bolts and got the alignment done. I've lost printout but it was just under 2° negative and slight toe out, I fitted two new front tyres(syron street race) and have done 2 full trackdays and an evening session and the inside edges are completely bald!!
Can anybody shed some light as to why they have worn so quick surely it's not too much camber, I've seen guys running a lot more....any ideas would be welcome want to get this sorted before ruining more tyres. Thanks in advance

What little I could find about those tyres suggests they're very, very soft. That's probably how they got decent grip out of them while keeping the price so low. Running soft tyres with a fair whack of negative camber and after three track visits they're done doesn't sound particularly excessive to me to be honest, assuming you've done a few hours on track with them.

Really I thought that was excessive .I used to run more camber on my old mx5 on track ,track tyres would last me half a season on that car..I guess I'm going to have to buy a harder tyre aren't ii??

I'd say the camber is a little excessive but this is correctable. Otherwise the toe is probably a tad out. In stock toe mine used to kill the inside of the tyres. A Tyre fitter told me that he didn't normally toe Clios to Renault's specs. When he did mine it was still toeing out but less. He checked to see whether it would be zero toe under load. It is now sharper on turn in!

So you think I should use less camber on track??? Going to set it to zero toe also see if that improves things

Personally I would go with the Toe first and go from there. Admitedly 2 degrees of camber may affect the wear but I reckon the toe adjustment may cure alot of it.

With reference too comparing your tyres now against your mx5, tyre wear will be different due to the fact that one's fromt wheel drive and ones rear, you should see longer life om the mx5 due to the fact that the fronts are only steering whereas on the clio they're doing both steering and traction

Yeah understand that but I could do maybe 7 or 8 trackdays on a set of tyres not even getting half of that. Going to try take some toe off and harder tyres ,big learning curve this fwd after years with the mx5
